The Baytown Sun suspended its online discussion board, Baytown Talk, on Thursday due to the large number of readers who continued to violate the board's guidelines.

"At least temporarily, we've taken this step because a few readers continued to post inappropriate material," Publisher Cliff Clements said. "We're sorry it came to this. Thanks to all those who joined the site and tried to participate in legitimate dialogue about Baytown."

Clements said The Sun is committed to fostering community discussions through its site. The newspaper will explore ways to provide additional discussion opportunities in the future.

I am beginning to think that removing Baytown Talk was a good thing.

The Baytown talk was a great idea if it had been used for the purpose that it was put there for it would not have been shut down.

There were a select few that thught they would make a joke out of serious questions and more or elss tried to run the forum.

I too think it was a good idea to close it.

Being a Baytown resident for 40 years and then moving out of state, Baytown Talk was a way to get the 'extra news' from home. I did see some posts that did not follow the guidelines but was able to pick and choose. Maybe The Sun can try another format later on for those of us that no longer live in Baytown but like to keep up with the extra news.

This is what people like you do when you feel threatened by your shortcomings. You create a fictious drama in your head about those who point out how inadequate you are by using slurs and insults to shift the focus from you to someone else.

That's a really juvenile and pathetic way to live. The good news is, you can change.

Here's what you can do: wipe the nacho cheese off your "who farted?" T-shirt, put down the Budweiser, and take your big fat ass out of your trailor.
