Regarding Richardson Grove, one question: "how is it that ANY business, large or small, is allowed to determine the fate of a California state park, land that belongs to everyone in the entire state?" The Humboldt County representative for Economic Development mentioned, at a public forum , that there are 15 Humboldt County businesses that need the ...

If the road is improved the north coast won't be as attractive dumping ground for the nationís wastrel youth. People like MuskRat, his family pays him to stay away from home.

The last census stated there 109,000 in Humboldt County. Where do you get numbers like 130,000? Second, if safety is the issue construct a side road for only trucks. Last, where were the tree people when Pacific Lumber was cutting Redwoods at the rate of 200 a day? You bitch about CalTrans, but said nothing about Pacific Lumber. Out of sight out of mind?

This "place" has become a habitat for outsiders. You cannot take a walk in Redwood forest without taking someone with you. The last time I did I was accosted by two transients who told me (I am female)if I didn't leave I could be hurt. a single girl cannot walk across the HSU campus at night without being fearful. I do not go to Sidelines anymore after being groped twice on two different occasions. I have been confronted on the Plaza by transients who demanded money from me. Arcata is a scary place to live for a local person.

Interesting site for "Save Richardson Grove" and is full of information. But let's us remember this is a site developed to stop the work, like other sites for a purpose they are more than likely going to lean their way, yes?
Check out Caltrans site then: http://www.dot.ca.gov/dist1/d1projects/richar...

You can download the DEIR, and judge it for yourself.

Where else do you think that Save Richardson Grove got their information regarding the project?

87 mixed hardwoods, redwoods, and conifers <=24" DBH are to be removed, along with chopping the roots of the 30 Ancient trees that line the highway through the State park!
Do your research, Mr. Devil

wow 87 trees. On the coast here a 24 inch redwood could be 45 years old. Probably the same age as yourself. So do you consider yourself old growth?

That is not what the DEIR states.
87 trees to be removed, 25 Ancient trees to have their roots cut, filled, and paved.
Either you are a fan of distorting the facts as Kim is, or you have failed to do your research. I have a feeling that it is a little of both.(BTW, Kim's husband works for Caltrans)
Here is the link for the Caltrans DEIR. If you like holes and contradictions, it's a good read:
There is so much negativity coming from project proponents against people who simply want the regulations put in place to protect State Parks to be honored.
Caltrans is refusing to conduct wildlife studies. Caltrans openly admits that the project may have detrimental effects to the Ancient Trees is the DEIR. These trees are thousands of years old! If you read the DEIR, you will see this. The aggression coming from project proponents follows the age old rhetoric of anti-environmentalism.
I suggest that those who wish to see the road widened make an argument that is not a personal attack against "environmentalists" or "tree-huggers". Anyone who reads what you and the few other project proponents are saying in your vicious attacks will find it hard to side with your baseless convictions. Thinking people base their opinions on facts, and justify their claims with proof, not put downs.
Prove that the project won't harm the thirty Ancient Coastal Redwood Trees that line the Redwood Highway through Richardson Grove State Park.
This is something that even Caltrans cannot do!
Good god. You are pathetic. I think you are an employee of the Center for Biological Diversity trying to make waves to gain support for lawsuit.

Of course someone had to bring global warming to the table. In a perverted kind of way it was expected.
The global warming agenda has been debunked by lying scientists and " computer models."
Really, can a computer compete with mopther nature? Of course not.
I can build a program for a computer that will predict whatever I want it to. Anyone can.
And with the false data provided by some, they were forced to admit that there hasn't been a significant change in the earths temperture for the last 15 years.
So much for global warming.
Which by the way is way off topic in this forum.
