What is everyones honest opinion on all these high dollar churches in Breathitt County. Do you think the more money spent on your church, the better your odds of going to heaven.
Personally I think it is a disgrace when all that money could be used to better these communities. JMO. What do you all think?

Only the blood of Jesus will get you into Heaven. it doesn't matter what type of church building it is. As many as 2 or 3 gathered in His name he is in the midst so you by no means have to be in a mega church to get in any better standing.. God is Love, He can see a peron's heart and knows all. I have to agree with alot of what you say about the money being spent for the big buildings, i believe alot of the money could have been spent to help the poor help others that are truely in need. i beleive a tree is known by it's fruit and God knows people's hearts nd deeds. You cna fol men but God is not mocked.

Amen and AMEN! Watch and see. A certain official will find a way to get some help from the state gov or national gov. for the church from the flood. Mark my words. Id say alterior motives were in place at the big house than just helping people. Gotta get that big building paid off some how u know.

It was not just that one church that helped during the flood but rather a BUNCH of churches helped from that one. So all the praise just does not go to that one church because many many churches helped & that church was just the meeting place.

It seems to me that most church membership generally goes by social status. It also seems that most folks follow the traditions of their families.

The bigger the church, the more sinners it will hold. Only God can decide who makes it in and who doesn't. That million dollar church is getting them nowhere.

The county is in a poor state when its residents have to resort to criticizing a church where many other churches came together to do good for people who were hurting. Did you happen to go over and work with all these people and see all the love and care that went into this whole ordeal? I did, and I can tell you, that even though I don't belong to the church, it was one of the most amazing sights I have ever seen. Some of them worked from daylight to dark the whole time to make sure people had what they needed. You need to find something else to complain about and hope that these churches will still be standing if you ever need their help. I

I don't think the size of the building has anything to do with worship. It's a good thing it was so large as to house, feed, and help so many. I worked tirelessly there for the flood victims and it didn't seem to matter to them which church you were affiliated with,if any. Many people pitched in and the victims were grateful. It's nobody's business (except those who attend there) how much $$ the church cost. They're the ones who have chosen to pay for it. Who are we to tell them how to spend their money? That doesn't make them any less religious than others.

I am a Deacon of one of the churches that helped out during the flood. I can say without a doubt that The Church Of God and many other surrounding churches gave it their all to help during this time of need. I for one was there every day and did whatever they asked of me to do. As for the size and the cost! Well, God seen fit to put it there for it to be of his use during this disaster!!!! I personally do not attend this church but know almost everyone that attends there because Breathitt Co. is a tight knitted community. And as someone else stated it does not matter the cost of a church building if the people attending it so chooses to build it and pay for it. As for the poor God will provide in his time and his ways. And its just a building. I for one believe that a building is not a church!!! The church is made up of the people attending the building!!!!! I for one am very glad that the church was there when people needed it and will be there if ever needed again. And if ever needed again im sure the community will gather together again and work together like the first time to make God proud of us and the community proud too!

In my opinion.Theres to many churches in Breathitt. Why so many?.We only need a few to worship God,Don't we?..And i don't think god would want all the money that is being spent actually spent on building high dollar churches, while that money can be used on food or even shelter for some...

The Bible tells us to give the first fruits to God! Meaning he wants and deserves the very best! I still think it is a personal decision of whether or not you go to a church like this one or a small country or community church as long as you assemble somewhere to worship and praise the creator of everything. God will make a way to feed and house the poor. He sent his son and at times he did'nt even have a place himself to lay his head. Some people want to stay in turmoil over the price of this and that when in the end what will it matter anyways. LOL, I would say when the little country church I attend was built some 50 years ago there was people saying WHY DID THOSE PEOPLE HAVE TO BUILD SUCH AN EXPENSIVE PLACE when there is people starving around here. People always have and always will gripe about something or other. Give our God the VERY BEST!!!

"Have to disagree," I agree with most of what you said, but I disagree that giving the first fruits to God has anything to do with building a church. The comfortable pews and fancy lighting are for man, not God. God doesn't care if we gather in a cave as long as we put Him first.
