Good job, Ray! And thanks to leg8islature: The link between animal cruelty and other criminal behavior is quite strong. Neither can be tolerated.

This touching story suggests there really is a need to circumvent cruelty to animals by educating the public. We also need to strictly enforce, with punishment that has some "teeth" to it, laws that protect pets. People who abuse pets generally abuse humans. We need to take better care of our animals by bringing those who abuse them to justice.

this is Silver Shitty. we don't license our dogs because we would be fined when we let them run all over the neighborhood. If the dog is picked up and we want it back, for a few bucks we can take it home with a coupon for cheap shots. our shelter does not require the shots or neutering before it leaves the shelter. we have dogs in the neighborhood that have bitten 4 or 5 people. again, laws, ordinances, but NO enforcement. we all love that old hippy, who drives around in his cute little truck, but he's your typical city employee. it took 4 days to get a small dog killed by a local pit bull, removed from the street.

I agree with just saying.m All the laws in the world would not work without enforcement of those laws, and that useless hippy has shown how well he executes his duties with all the dead animal carcasses that litter the streets until the crows eat them.

I don't know what "useless hippie" you all are talking about. The most visible animal control officer in Silver City that I know is a family friend and is as far from a "hippie" as anyone I know. He is a hard working man who is pretty conservative in his views. Hell, he's even a hunter of big game. Maybe you're talking about a different person?!?!?

Oh, and both animals that I rescued from the Animal Shelter were required to be neutered before I could take them home.
