It was only a matter of time..Unfortunately for the 16-year old and his family, that time came yesterday.
These kids have been allowed to drive illegally, recklessly and apparently with parents' blessings for years around the area of where the Lorenz boy crashed. They have terrorized the neighborhood and have been in involved in numerous "near-misses".
I only wish that the other parents who allow their kids to drive these OFF THE ROAD vehicles take a lesson from this incident..but sadly, I doubt they will.

If they'd open up the Pine Barrens to ATVs, accidents with telephone poles would be reduced dramatically.

Maybe accidents w telephone poles will stop, but the stupidity and recklessness of these kids (and let me add, adults) will continue. The difference would be the maturity of the driver..not the surroundings, that would reduce these senseless deaths.

Yup. They could run 'em into trees instead.

And of course totally destroy the environment of the Pine Barrens for people who are still willing to walk therein.

guys just do your best to ignore these people. the ignorance from people i have seen on here is so unreal it is hard to believe. how someone can be so cold to say some of these things after a 16 year old kid past away is beyond me...resident of neighborhood and atvs kill-do you have any younger relatives that drive? i'd be willing to bet you they have broken the law in one way or another. do you follow every speed limit on the highway? if your son or daughter crashed and died doing 40 in a 30mph zone and everyone said- charge the parents, they should no better than to break the law its only a matter of time before they die, how would you feel. how can you live with yourself after degrading the friends and family of lance.

Hey Lance was such a great kid dont blame him or his parents. HE was wearing a helmet.
Maybe if the town would have done something more the the roads. There were no plows in Shirley and the roads were hell.
Anyway, a great kid died today and all you twats wanna sit there and say it was his fault, then whatever maybe you will care if your friend or son died.

i dont understand why there was a need to include the fact he was riding illegally in the paper, all the other comments on here that say stuff about his parents, there are MILLIONS of people who own quads and ride alot more reckless then lance and his crew, he rode with a helmet and if the town took more safer precautions while cleaning roads, alot more accidents could have been prevented, an ATV is just as dangerous as a motorcyle, leaving a motorcyle far more fatal, yet that is Legal, he wore a helmet, clean the roads better, a great friend and a sweet boy died yesterday, R.I.P Lance Lorenz we all love you, p.s wrong road name, you should probably investigate your facts a little wiser
