Philips would be a terrific mayor for Bay Minette! This is a guy who:(1) got the city to enter into a contract with Cello Corporation. Remember them, the people that DEFRAUDED an international company out of $10 million dollars for selling them a fraudulent process for making bio-fuel? Philips was on their payroll receiving a "finders fee" for helping them get the site of thier plant, then building it for them. All while using his influence as a councilman.(2) voted to buy the city pool for $60,000, which is losing money. To date, the city has spent over $250,000 MORE in repairs alone.(3) voted to spend $15,000 to build the BCHS concession stand at the stadium using "his subs" ( quoted from the Press Register) which eventually cost over $150,000. All without an open bid contract.(4) voted to spend $250,000 for the horse arena that is losing money.(5) voted to build the bowling alley, bought deficient used equipment to save money, then had to spend an additional $75,000 to replace within a year. Total Cost to the city.....$350,000. By the way, the bowling alley is not only losing money every year, but the operator has asked the city to let him pull out and now the city is considering having to take over running it in order to keep it open. All this done BEFORE Mayor Tillery was even elected! Good luck, Bay Minette, on your next election!

And since Mayor Tillery has taken office she has done nothing. Absolutely nothing but let the Chief of Police run the city. Looks to me that Mike Phillips is at least bringing in businesses for the city. So yea....I'll vote for him.

The only businesses that Mikey Phillips might bring to Bay Minette is more drug stores. He could keep several in business all by himself. "Pass the OxyContin please".

Is Mayor TIllery scared or what. These post can only be from someone that is scared. None of this is true and the only explaination for such an attack on Mike Phillips is that Mayor Tillery is scared she will not win reelection. Just remember Mayor TIllerys acceptance speech where she claim "the people have spoken" well the people will speak again just listen to what they say.

Just saying either you have been given some false information or you are just a plain liar. The Cello plant was a project worked on for several years by Mr. Jimmy Faulkner and it was he that assisted them in locating here and building on their present site. I would be interested in looking at any proof you have that Mr. Phillips took money from them as a finder fee or salary. I do not have a lor of information on the pool but it is my understanding that it is in fact making a profit. I challange your figures on the concession stands, I worked on these projects and charged for material only and furnished labor for free. I believe your are wrong but I welcome you to prove me wrong. As for the horse arena the cost for the arena building, land and improvements was $600,000. The arena is used by member that pay annual membership and charges for rental of the facility. The arena is not loosing money, I assure you of that. I know these things to be true because I am the Chairman of the Arena board. I know factually that your statements are false so my question to you is simply: What are your motives?

I do agree with justsayin and believe those facts to be accurate. Most of the stuff was built half ass on the dobbins administrations watch. Bowling alley skate rink etc.

Jack you got your last name wrong but then if you believe the hogwash from Justsayin then you should check into it yourself. Look how many people use the bowling alley and skating ring every day and enjoy themselves. CallingUout seems to know alittle about what they write. Get involved, if it needs improving then help improve it.

Hey why dont u just ask for info at city hall. Ask that clean cut lawyer or accountant to let you see the minutes from the past meetings. Look at the facts I dare u look at Phillips doped up dealings

What is the deal with so many posts about Mr. Phillips and alleged drug use/abuse?

I apologize about the phrase doped up. I meant to say or mean stupid or ignorant
As to the drug allegations, I believe he is on meds for a medical condition. I do not know if he uses the prescription and abuses it. I have heard his son hits the hash pipe a little bit, I don't really care unless it makes it difficult to make rational decisions or if he uses it while behind the wheel.
Ps. If mikes reading this I did get a big kick from ur question at the last meeting
Why do they call the turn lane the suicide lane?
I haven't stop laughing about that one. I don't believe u got an answer did u?

Perhaps it is because Mikey continually attacks the police officers for not making drug arrests in Bay Minette while stating publicly that he takes Oxycotin - the most addictive and abused prescription drug in the country. It' like "the pot calling the kettle black". An addict is an addict no matter whether the drug is from a pharmacy or off the street.

I heard that MADD hatter. I think ur on to something. Prescription drugs r by stats the more abused and less prosecuted.

I heard he was running around telling law enforcement and fire dept he was running for mayor and that you r either with him or not. Like he could fire them. Maybe that stuff is affecting his ability to make rational statements or loopy

The issue on the concession stand at the stadium is not how much free time and labor you and others invested in the project. The issue is that it cost more than $15,000 no matter how many feebies were given. Just look at the size of the building. You simply can't say that it cost less than that. And state law requires that any municipal contract that exceeds $15,000 be opened to public bid. Violation of this law carries with it a fine of up to $500 and jail time of up to 12 months. And you can't say that the project was broken up into component parts and each part costs less than $15,000. That won't fly or everybody would be doing it. Then Mayor Sonny Dobbins and then Mayor Pro Tem Mike Phillips clearly violated these bid laws as well as the public trust. The public expects elected public officials to be honest and forthright in their dealings. And you can't say that the end justifies the means. You can't rob a bank, give the ill-gotten-gains to charity, and expect all to be forgiven. You have still broken the law and should have to pay the consequences. These two men should be thankful that this happened before the recession - before contractors were needing work. Otherwise they would have brought grievances against these two men and the city for violating the state bid laws.

I agree with u. I've heard the phrase, "That's the way things are done around here".
I don't think that's the way anymore.

I am voting for Mike Phillips for Mayor!! Jamie has done away with Animal control. She lets the Police Chief run the City. She also has let him make a mess of the Police Department. I see these comments on here are from scared people who are going to lose their jobs when Mike gets to be Mayor. Jamie has done nothing for this City!!!!! If she has no one knows.

Really I think your the one that's scared. She's done a lot more for the city than either dobbins or Phillips could ever accomplish.
