Ms Bell does not have a succesful business, a succesful smalll business is when you make the five year mark. Only 3% of business make it 5 years. Let's wait and see if she can make it. I hope she does.

You mean like the crappy mayor who's in office now? Like when she promised everybody that she was going to fire that fat bastard police chief? Or when she promised to build a new douglasville community center to get votes and never touched it? You mean like those kind of promises? She's a joke! And her whole four years has been a joke! The way she lets both the police and fire chief run their departments is

a joke!
Well u can eat crap. The police chief is the best u could ask for If mike is mayor douglasville will suffer. The current administration has done well I believe especially in a bad economy. The department leaders all manage there people well. Mike could run a build a bear party without sonny

This is getting pretty nasty. Where is the proof of threats and unethical actions by Mr. Phillips or MR. DObbins? I don't think AL Boykin is going to be a threat to anyone. One thing about it with this many people running it only means more voter turn out and it will be clear to the present administration that the poeple of this town are not happy with the way things are going. Get more people out out to vote.

I can eat crap? That's the best you can do? And the police chief is the best you could ask for? Where the hell have you been for the past eight years? So I guess telling two men to put their noses in a corner is the best you could ask for? Or getting rid of or running off 40 plus officers is the best you could ask for? Or getting the city sued? I tell you what, name the officers that have been there since he was hired? I bet you can count them on two fingers. I notice you didn't take up for the fire chief. I guess you think he should stay as well? I mean using his city owned vehicle to take his family to Disney World while he attended a class. Or maybe because he tells his men to wash HIS truck. Do us all a favor before you reply back.......get some facts! Because you're starting to look like an idiot as well by taking up for those two jokes.
I meant nothing by omitting the fire chief. I believe he does a great job as well. He is the man for the job. I think all dept heads are good and we should try an attract new business and industry. Maybe the fire chief combined the trip If there r any jokes it's sonny and mike.

Everyone has an opinion but the fact is that there have been a lot of police officers leave the force and the experience level is at the bottom. THe firemen are all disgruntled with what is going on in their department which only means there are problems. THe fact is that some are simply saying everything is fine and ignoring that there is a problem. If you support the police chief, explain why so many officers have left and why they do not make reports when crime happens. If you support the fire chief then explain why he needed to buy two boats, why he is gone all the time teaching and getting paid for it and the volunteer firemen want him gone. Just address these issues please

Mrs. Bell has had a very successful business, especially considering she started it in the middle of a recession and it is thriving. I feel every candidate, except for Carla Sue Bell, has too many connections or ties to prominent members of our community that could influence or hinder our progress towards becoming a better city.
Mrs. Bell brings fresh blood to our community that could benefit not only our lives but future generations to come. Give Mrs. Bell a SHOT! CHECK HERE OUT HERE carlasuebell.com

No Ms. Bell is not very successful in business. Credit can carry a business for a couple of years along with personal wealth and then the business may stand or fall, only with years of operation with profit can a business be called a success. Your arguement that a person with no ties can be abetter Mayor shows the lack of experience. To govern with out the input from the people is to dictate (Like OBAMA) we do not want a person that can not connect to the people of Bay Minette. There are a lot of people that are working hard to make Bay Minette a better place and to say that these people don't count is the wrong attitude to have. I do not know Ms Bell but this attitude will not get her elected.

Ok from visiting and actually seeing The Bell's pharmacy and shop, it is doing VERY WELL as a small business. You can say that it takes years of success and profit to deem a business SUCCESSFUL, but HOW MANY OTHER local stores and shops can you recall lasting more than 2 years? There may be 3-4 true businesses that have been SUCCESSFUL enough to stay open, but I can guarantee those businesses also didn't start up and become successful during a recession. Just imagine how much better off her business would be if not for a recession. So for you to say she has not been mistaken, well that is crazy talk.
We may not want a person that cannot connect (by the way she has connected with MANY in the community, sorry you haven't been one yet) to the community and have old ties that do not allow change and progress. Alot of people have baD tastes from TILLERY, WILLS, and PHILLIPS.
The problem with THE CURRENT ADMINISTRATION and the other OLD MONEY CANDIDATES have been In this town for 30-40 YEARS and still haven't gotten anything accomplished for this town. So what makes you think that's If we give them another FOUR YEARS that they will do anything different?
Sure Mike Phillips better connects with people than Bell does (for now anyways) but what good has he REALLY done in 16 years on the city council? Really, I'll be waiting. All I can recall of Mr. Phillips is that he was Mr. Dobbins YES MAN that did and will continue to do what he is told instead of what needs to be done. Hell maybe the douglasville representative will run so we don't have to worry about an of these candidates getting the mayor position

I also want to say I agree with most of the posters about the police chief. He is a useless joke that has ran off MANY great police officers from this town. Our experience on the police force is a joke, and the fire dept seems to be going to crap as well. I am hoping one of the first things done by the new mayor is to remove the police chief and reorganize the fire dept.

MIke Phillips is not a yes man to anyone. I have witnessed him argue with Mr. Dobbins and with Mayor Tillery in worksessions and council meetings to make sure all sides of an issue are heard. What has he done? He watches every cent that goes thru the City accounts and questions if they look out of line. Remember that this town had a 20 year Mayor prior to Mr. Dobbins being elected and for years at election time the citizens cried out for more in Bay Minette for the youth to do. This fell on deaf ears until Mr. Dobbins was elected and with Mr. Phillips help and ideas as well as the other councilmembers. We now have a bowling alley, skating ring, new pool, arena, better concession buildings at sport fields, playgrounds and sidewalks (the latter two the present Mayor claims) and an airport of which we can be proud. I would say that is quiet a lot for 8 years, of course the last 4 have been wasted. I expect more the next 4 years.

I feel that Sonny Dobbins was a wonderful mayor overall. He had his downsides but who doesn't? He was FRESH BLOOD that this town needed after Ricky Rhodes stagnant period as mayor. He did add things for the youth to do. Mike Phillips may have been a councilman when all that was pushed through, but he most definitely wasn't the one that signed off on the projects.

If he is such a good option for mayor then WHERE WAS HE all those years that Ricky Rhodes sat on his "throne" and did nothing for this city but run off good business and keep allowing Bay Minette's "old money" to do what they wanted? This is the time for BUSINESS AND JOB CREATION in this great city and there is nobody better for that than Mrs. Bell. She has business ownership experience, also has an extensive background in business management to go along with her MBA.

Itis time for our youth (including myself, being 21 and all) to step up and voice our opinion because the future of our lives and lifestyles depend on this city being made great in both fun (THANK YOU SONNY) and work (BRING IN CARLA!).

(P.S. Jamie Tillery did have one of the parks in town built. She had a park built by the city pool that is accessible by normal and handicappe children. No child in a wheelchair will ever have to say "mommy I can't get on the slide or playground" EVER again.) but that's all LOL

please stand corrected, the park beside the pool was also started by mayor dobbins. all of the ground work and grants were submitted during the dobbins administration. jamie, did nothing to get that park built...
