EXPOSES “HOUSE OF CARDS”–
DISTRICT MISREPRESENTS FINANCIAL FIGURES!

At Monday’s government hearing on the District’s reneging on our promised raises, fireworks broke out before the assigned Special Magistrate.

UTD experts uncovered a shell game being played by top District officials led by Deputy Superintendent for Business Operations Ofelia San Pedro. The District was forced to admit that their financial reports and budgets were so incompetent that the Superintendent could not rely on his own budget numbers.

District officials ran for cover begging the Special Magistrate for additional time to try to recalculate their unreliable and deceptive financial figures.

“We teach our students to do real math at schools and now we expect the District to Come Clean and do real math to find the money to honor our contract. Above all we demand the end of their deceptive ways,” UTD President Karen Aronowitz said.

School Board members Perla Hantman and Ana Rivas Logan, along with State Representative Carlos Lopez-Cantera, were subpoenaed by UTD to testify at Monday’s hearing. The two board members were slated to testify that they had no confidence in Ms. San Pedro’s financial reports.

UTD legal counsel presented a “proffer of evidence” that exposed the District’s “House of Cards.” The shell shocked District Officials were forced to carry the case onto another day, which was set for December 15, 2008.

“We are looking forward to the next day of hearing. We will continue to expose this outrageous misrepresentation. We will continue to fight to force the District to honor our contract,” said Karen Aronowitz.
