Now I know that furniture has a high markup but geez......they're ridiculous. I also know that modern/contemp furniture is more expensive than traditional. This place is higher than any modern furniture around (Memphis or Little Rock.

I have bought some of the same items at overstock.com and at the cbk store (Direct Decor) in union city, tn. I bought a vase at union city for $6.00 and they had the exact same one, same brand at swank for $120. It takes a couple of hours to get there, but it is well worth it if you like to decorate. There are also places in Hughes and Forest City that has great decor---not as cheap as Direct Decor, but much less than Swank.

Decor Direct in Union City is awesome, very good prices and great sales. Swank is ridiculous, I went in there to buy a couch and they priced it to me at 2800. I bargained with them and they would only come off the price a couple hundred dollars. Went to Roberson Bros in Leachville and he sold me the same couch for 1200.00. It wasn't set up as pretty as Swank had it but it was the exact brand and couch. Find what you want at Swank and go to Leachville and he will get it for you.

Look over what you get at Leachville. He brought us a couch that looked like it had been burnt. The delivery guys said call the store, soon as I called he said he couldn't get any more. I finally got that one swapped for one that had a place on it.$1899.00 and sure not worth it. Live and learn! It took 3 months for him to even trade the 1st one. I won't go back!!! Also DON'T go to Hanks unless you want to get a real Scr#^*^@!!!!!

The prices are probably so high because the people that own Swank... its my understanding at least... own that strip mall that its in, you know, the one thats mostly empty and isnt bringing in any rent.

He isn't the most organized but he did give me a good deal, I had a little trouble with a bunk bed but he worked it all out in the end, so no real complaints. I also love Gambles in Manila.

I went to look for furniture at Swanks. Wish I hadn't brought my husband or mother with me. I like the stuff they have but I found a couple of lamps...gulp....$500 each. Well I left quickly with my husband questioning how a lamp in Jonesboro, Arkansas could cost $500. And as far as Hanks, well we tried to buy a day bed and was quoted a price. We left the store and returned one hour later to pick it up and it was going to cost $100 more. Well told them to screw themselves. Found a nice day bed in Searcy for much less, not from Hanks!!!

SWANKS aka SKANKS is owned by the same people that own the overpriced scraps you will find at Southern Accents. They are crooks! I know someone that worked for them and knows what kind of crap they sell you and how much they mark it up. Stay away from SKANKS, or be prepared to take it up the backside.

There is a really nice store on the highway south from Wynne right before you get into Forrest city,I think it is called "Sharons" or "Sherrys" something like that.I bought a beautiful occasional table with nice inlaid banding around the pattern on top, beautiful thing, for about $150.Look the things over, tho, because they do tell you that they are an overstock and 'scratch & dent' store.

PS I have also bought a couple of nice things from Southern Accents, got a really nice heavy leather-look accent chair for my desk, and a great recliner. They have good things there,so,if you think they're too high, try going to Hutchins or the store downtown.
I miss "Superior Interiors" BAD!

The place in Forest City is Sherry's Outlet. My shopping budding and I usually go to Sherry's first, then head on over to Hughes to the Cotton store and sometimes on to Ebony. The place at Ebony is expensive, but has some really nice and unusual things.

My husband and I made the mistake of going in there just to look not long after we bought our house. I picked up the softest pillow I have ever felt. I swear to the Lord that price tag said $1200.00. Needless to say, the pillow was put back down and we made a beeline out of there. That store would do really good in a big city, but in Jonesboro Arkansas, I am really surprised it's still open.
