Get ready to say goodbye to the store at the forks of U.S.1 & Hwy 15 that was originally Jack's Minit Market, The OLD Huddle House,The Mazda dealership building, The Scottish Inn Motel and several houses and other buildings out U.S. 1 south..It will change the looks of the area drastically, but it's progress!!!

I do understand that progress is what many people think we need. But I am one for the old, the history, and not progress so I will be sad to see all the changes that continue to come to our old town of Baxley.

What is really sad is the face lift that is going to happen between the courthouse red light and the intersection you mentioned above.

What I understand is that the road will be widened to accomodate a turning lane just like from the courthouse red light, north. I may be wrong and it just may be a rumor but that is what I have been hearing.

All those homes and businesses that are built close to the existing road will have to be altered in some way to make way for a turning lane.

Sad due to the history of those homes but also sad to think about the displacement of the people that live in those homes and the businesses that are along that particular street.

But as you say, "progress", sometimes someone must suffer for the progress that will take place.
I know, it has happened to me in the past.
Unbelievable

Though it is good to have historical sites upheld, we need change in our communities for the better. We need new industry first and foremost if our neighboring towns are going to survive, everything is drying up right now and it's scary to watch.

Daily Horoscope for December 27

Capricorn

You'll have a fabulous time if you're longing to see what's on offer in the sales, especially if you want to buy yourself some new clothes or cosmetics. However, you won't pay much attention to how much you're spending, and may even deliberately avoid thinking about it. Do yourself a favor and don't go overboard if you can't afford it.
