If he did this to a human, none of these demonstrators would care including the Pioneer Press. Wierdness.

Apparently people are mad that this guy is being raked over the coals... Well, he should be. Your animosity over this story getting press doesn't change that. He's a psycho and will be handled as such.

AND if this WERE a human life - yes, there WOULD be coverage. Thank jeebus that was NOT the case, but it's still really messed up to do what he did. It alludes to a greater problem with this guy, just look at his smirky mug shot. This guy has problems. Why would he even get a dog just to torture it?

Hopefully he gets woken up with a stiff penalty and plenty of bad PR. I'm no animal rights activist, but I know crazy when I see it.

You sound insane. I've sent the men in white coats to come take you away to Camp Macadamia, where you will find the companionship of others just like you.

I think that many like myself could care less if he is raked over the coals. Most of us hope he gets maximum punishment too. The point being made is that many folks are murdered every day and there is not multiple stories about them where as this guy did a horrible thing by cutting the dogs throat the dog did not die and is ok now. The folks that have had their throats cut by others are not ok and there are not 3-5 stories about them in the paper. Thats the point. There have been what, 30 murders in Minneapolis so far this year, how many of them had this type of coverage? How many protesters are at the hearings for the murderers caught? Is a dogs life worth more than a humans and I am not getting into the abortion deal, just straight up someone walking around and talking, dog or him/her worth more in the great scheme of things?

I thought the Oklahoma City bombing was supposed to be payback for that. Apparently there's still lingering resentment among the right-wing psychos of the world.

Instead of being upset that you perceive more outrage over a dog's abuse than a human's, why not channel your energy into being one voice for abused people? You're right that the victims of violence are not just okay after the cuts and bruises heal, but having compassion for them doesn't mean we can't have outrage for animals who are treated the same way. A person who beats or abuses any living creature, be it dog or human, is dangerously disturbed and need to be met with the harshest penalty legally allowed.

I noticed above the headline "Battle Lake man accused of cutting dog's throat fails to appear in court" there was an ad for the trappers convention.

I don't think what he did was right but it isn't the end of the world either. At most it ought to be a hundred dolar fine.

What I'm wondering is why there is an online vote/sign up where people state he should get maximum penalty.
Since when does an online poll matter at all? What's the point?

I'm not so sure it is a disturbed thing as much of an uncontrolled testosterone thing. Men are just animals, and if not controlled- are definitely prone to aggression. I've thrown a lot of golf clubs, wrentches, kicked tires, etc. But I agree there is a fine line between that, and attacking a living thing. Of course I've seen some dang aggressive psycho women also. Many of these people in the world- men and women- have so little reality, sense, or reason, that they are worse than animals. And that is very, very sad.

This is just one of the many reasons our society is struggling. So little personal accountability. Self discipline seems to be gone. Whether it is beating dogs, or abusing children, or just spending wildly beyond your means. But I digress.
