" Woodland City Council Votes in Favor of Easter Bunny, Santa Claus, and the Special Kind of Magic that Can Only Be Found in a Box of Lucky Charms

In a historic vote last night, the Woodland City Council passed a resolution proclaiming their belief in and support of a wide assortment of mythical, magical figures.

The council voted 4-1 to support the resolution that stated, in part, that "The City of Woodland insists that we do believe in the Easter Bunny and Santa Claus, and anyone who doesn't should be punished by not receiving the special gifts that only they can provide."

The resolution was developed after a discussion of the Columbia River Crossing project, an infrastructure project that by its nature will be paid for with tax dollars. Woodland city officials balked at the idea of paying for public projects with public money, and insisted that "there have to be other options we haven't explored."

Said councilor Benjamin Fredericks, "It was ingrained in me from a very young age that if you close your eyes and wish hard enough, then Santa and his friends will bring you what you want. And if they don't it's because you were a naughty, naughty boy who doesn't deserve nice things.

"Well, I'm here to say that this is our moment of truth. Today we made a decision to let the people decide whether we will be naughty or nice, and let Santa and his friends bring us the things we want, instead of burdening our citizens with actually having to pay for things like infrastructure and public works."

He added that the timing of the vote was intentional, "what with Easter being right around the corner and all." Although the Easter Bunny "usually leaves the heavier lifting to Santa Claus, there's no reason this shouldn't be a team effort from all of our special magical friends."
