Reminds me of the time my uncle won 10 grand at a local auto plant (in their weekly numbers game) after 17 years of putting in 20 bucks a week. He DID NOT appreciate my dad pointing out that he spent 17 thousand to "win" 10. With interest, back then, it could have been 25 thousand. Lotteries....taxation of the mathematically challenged.

Leave him alone. It's the only way he has to feel impotent.(Yeah, I know I did!!)

Glad their not union...if they were, after taxes their "cut" would probably be less than their weekly paycheck!

It's a volunteer tax -- get over it! The odds of winning are BETTER than when you pay your property taxes or pay your income taxes.

Speaking of lotteries -- what is with the Hoosier Lottery? No winner for some time now. The odds are much better (1 in 12 million) and now the prize is up to $44 million.

Does anyone know how many Hossier tickets are being sold for each drawing?

IMHO, if someone else wins the big Powerball jackpot but you win a few bucks, invest the winnings in Hoosier Lottery tickets (if you are going to play again).

My guess is that someone may hit the Hoosier Lottery on the very next drawing after this Powerball jackpot is hit.

I believe this happened the last time the Powerball jackpot grew large back in March.

How long has it been that YOU have had fewer marbles?

No! No! No! It's "AMONG all of the tickets..."
When it's only two things, then you can be between the two of them. When it's three or more things, then you are AMONG them!!!
And while we're on the topic, a person who is ANXIOUS for something is experiencing ANXIETY, while a person who is EAGER for something is experiencing anticipation. If you are ANXIOUS to get a birthday gift, then you must have had a bad experience with previous birthday gifts! Most people are EAGER to get gifts.
Oh, and one more thing. If you can count them, then it's FEWER. If it's a group, then it's LESS.
For instance, there is less milk in my glass than in his. Or, my glass has fewer ounces in it than his does.
To say "Joe has less marbles than Sam" is WRONG. It's "Joe has FEWER marbles than Sam."
Thus endeth the lesson ;-)

I am glad somebody won something. I think the whole thing is rigged. Why doesn't anyone ever hit the Powerball when it is 10 or 20 million, its always 2 or 300 million then some obscure person in North Dakota who is 87 wins the prize. Nobody ever wins it when the prize is small. Seems odd. And now a computer picks the numbers. Its rigged.
Thats because the number played % increases with each jackpot...It's harder to hit when its small...Oh and btw IN is #2 in the country with powerball jackpots

Lst time someone hit the Hoosier Lotto was last October. Kinda hard to believe that no one has hit it all year.

It depends. Are they buying the tickets on company time or personal time? My feeling is they are buying them on personal time which the company has no business telling them what to do.

Now if they were playing hold em' poker in the break room and putting money on the table then yeah they could say something.

Many people have office pools for the lottery and/or March Madness do you participate in them? If so, then what is your argument?

Many companies do not allow any form of gambling on the premises. If they pooled their money for the tickets on company property they could all be terminated or some action taken against them. No union here to file a grievance with.
