"Between all of the tickets, the group usually wins $24 to $34 a week, Belcher said."
No! No! No! It's "AMONG all of the tickets..."
When it's only two things, then you can be between the two of them. When it's three or more things, then you are AMONG them!!!
And while we're on the topic, a person who is ANXIOUS for something is experiencing ANXIETY, while a person who is EAGER for something is experiencing anticipation. If you are ANXIOUS to get a birthday gift, then you must have had a bad experience with previous birthday gifts! Most people are EAGER to get gifts.
Oh, and one more thing. If you can count them, then it's FEWER. If it's a group, then it's LESS.
For instance, there is less milk in my glass than in his. Or, my glass has fewer ounces in it than his does.
To say "Joe has less marbles than Sam" is WRONG. It's "Joe has FEWER marbles than Sam."
Thus endeth the lesson ;-)

I am glad somebody won something. I think the whole thing is rigged. Why doesn't anyone ever hit the Powerball when it is 10 or 20 million, its always 2 or 300 million then some obscure person in North Dakota who is 87 wins the prize. Nobody ever wins it when the prize is small. Seems odd. And now a computer picks the numbers. Its rigged.

No one wins when it is small because relatively no one is playing. 1 in 146,107,962 is hard to overcome if they "only" sell 10 million tickets. On this story, after they divide the money and total up the money they have put into the lottery, they didn't win all that much money.

Did you fail in your dreams of becoming a college professor and feel it necesarry to correct people on Indystar forums? Yeah, it's funny when you have a better grasp on the english language than writers for a major newspaper. But, get a life. You must be the one who wrote the article.

Folks, you're too dumb to realize the difference between a poorly written story and how it should've been written. That's the problem with most of you today - it used to be that newspaper stories were written to the reading ability of a 6th grader - not anymore just let the reader sound it out and maybe they'll get the gist of the story.

Not as excited the BIG prizes, but about $4M after taxes and cash option. The number of participants increases dramitically as the $$ grow. Simple math, my friend. Bet you're scared of Direct Deposit too ;)

Winning anything is a plus for Indiana people cause you end up giving it back to Indiana for property tax, or some other idea some politician comes up with. Oh well, it's only money. The lottery was created to subsidize something or other anyway.

the lotto was made to help ease the pain of property taxes. by subsudizing the school suystems and road work that untill our elected clowns seen fit to take there share for that special project in there district. you know that 100,000 dollor statue of the founderr of there town. that nobody cares about. or the 500,000 restocking of the lake in bedford of fish at there favorite hole. if i hit the lotto i would be sure to move out of this state before they figure out anouther way to suck it out of you.
