Death to these bastards. They've made their cause appear to be that of the lunatic fringe. Hell, I'm ready to invade Canada just out of spite. Yes this is wrong, punish them, but Death I am glad your no judge.

The thing that really disturbs me about this is the Superintendent's "red and white" comment.
The vandalism is bad enough on its own- great of the manager to add fuel to the fire.
Just goes to show how many ignorant people are out there.

Thankfully he is no longer the mayor.
Hopefully the person(s) who did this will be caught, and tortured. After a few of these, our monuments will be free of damage from vandalism.

"We see the battlefield as hallowed ground where 196 years ago brave men, red and white, fought and died courageously," Nail said. "I don't know how anybody could hope to do honor by doing this sort of thing." Good use of a descriptive ethnic classification there Nail...

There's a surprised. There are plenty of angry cowardly liberals running around Indy these days. Are all of Bart's cronies accounted for?

These vandals are the type of punks who a) disdain the American way and capitalism while b) living off of mommy-and-daddy-capitalist's hard earned money.
I sincerely hope they are caught and prosecuted.

One thing I liked about my visit to Memphis was the memorial to that colored fella Dr. Martin Luther King. Referring to American Indians as "reds" seems a little risky... so what? he was paying them homage, not saying it to disrespect them. you can call me "white" all you want, because you know what, thats what color i am!

Which does the indigenous peoples more good - a monument which contributes to people pausing and thinking about the conflicts with the indians, or no monument at all?

Indy Star dot com is a joke. Why on earth would you show a picture that passes on their message??? It's like showing the buffoons that run on the the field of a game on tv. No, the networks turn the cameras off so more fools won't do the same.
Think about it.

This type of thing should not even be reported.
Clean it up and move on. To give these morons publicity is exactly what they want.
Just act like it didn't happen unless you catch them in the act then blow their brains out.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that this probably had less to do with European American / Native American relations and more to do the same swell people that protest the funerals of soldiers.

I really bet the folks back in 1908 were really thinking about the sacrifice of the Indians that were defending their land. Remember folks History is written by the victors.

Not a bad point, Dave in Greenwood. Does the memorial also pay respect to the Native Americans who were trying to survive and protect themselves?
I have the greatest respect for our men and women in uniform and for those who fought to protect our way of life and to defeat tyranny.
