This is the same mindlessness as those who topple headstones in a cemetery.

It's ironic that someone who defaces a monument at night with nobody around to express his views has the nerve to write the word coward on one side.

Vandalized no doubt, by someone who never served one day to defend the freedom they enjoy.

Nothing like destroying others enjoyment. Posting a sign is free speach, damaging property is just a crime.

the relatives of those that the tributute is to should get to kick the sh*t out of the punk(s). Then the punk(s) should have to literally lick the paint off with their tongues.

In other words, a little less handholding of criminals would reduce the number of them.

Or protest the funerals of our heroes.

People like this don't seem to realize the freedom they have to act like complete jerks was paid for by the very people they dishonor and disrespect.

"We see the battlefield as hallowed ground where 196 years ago brave men, red and white, fought and died courageously," Nail said.

It is werid that Nail is using rather archaic and un-academic racial classifications for describing the Euro-Americans and Native Americans who fought in this battle.

I wish everything in the complexity of life could be simplified to "red and white"

More so, I think it will be interesting to discover if this was some stupid prank by local teenagers or actually an act of resistance from Native Americans?

Holy crap...did this dude just say this to a reporter..."We see the battlefield as hallowed ground where 196 years ago brave men, red and white, fought and died courageously," Nail said. "I don't know how anybody could hope to do honor by doing this sort of thing."
Red and white? As in American Indians and caucasians?
Sheesh. One thing I liked about my visit to Memphis was the memorial to that colored fella Dr. Martin Luther King.
Referring to American Indians as "reds" seems a little risky...

Yeah, beat up the vandals and make them eat paint. That would solve everything. If only we had more physical violence in our criminal justice system...

I don't know who's more shameless, you or the vandals.

What proof do you have of who did it? To me it looks like a disgusting sophomoric highschool or college prank.

The marines are important. They give the army guys somebody to beat up in bars.
