Sen. Barack Obama is a gifted and eloquent speaker. His Tuesday speech on race relations was a beautiful example of his style. It was not a "speech for the ages." Rather, it was a politically expedient attempt to divert attention from the real issue, which is not race relations at all, but rather Sen. Obama's judgment, or the lack thereof, with respect to the inflammatory and polemical views expressed by his pastor, the Rev. Jeremiah Wright.
Sen. Obama has made a touchstone of his campaign for the presidency that it is not so much experience that counts, but rather judgment. While experience is much more important than he would have the electorate believe, he is right to focus on judgment as a critical factor in the determination as to whom should be our next president. If Sen. Obama is the Democratic nominee, as he very well may be, then voters in November should ask themselves not how good his speech was, but rather what kind of judgment has he actually exhibited with respect to the deeply divisive views of the Rev. Wright. |

hillary is going down the tubes. what is bill trying to do, rush the process so he can get back to his bimbos and stop pretending to be helping hillary when he is actually hurting her campaign greatly. bill campaigning is best thing that could happen to obama. obama has enough campaign money. he should offer to pay bills travel expenses so hillary can put up a few more posters.

We need to make things and sell them.......who will get new businesses grants?
Who will obey the rules of the world? Who will obey the rules of God? |

so many other countries are doing coordinations of money movements that they have been buying the USA.
We would be better off with a President that is business not war.. Forbes would be best. |

Some 50 delegates were reportedly poised to unite behind Barack Obama if he had won by even 1 point in Texas. He lost the popular vote by 100,000 ballots, and now we learn that 100,000 Republicans voted for Hillary Clinton, probably not because of some change in party allegiance but because they thought she would be the easier candidate to beat. This kind of strategic voting often backfires (think Ralph Nader). The Texas crossovers are winners. By helping to prolong the Democratic race, they can claim credit for weakening the eventual nominee, whoever it turns out to be.
Obama has had a terrible time since Hillary sprang back to life after winning the Ohio and Texas primaries on March 4. The speech he delivered on race relations in Philadelphia was a valiant effort to address the story about his former pastor's inflammatory rhetoric. Having resisted for so long being typecast as the black candidate, Obama could no longer hold off plunging into the debate that still divides so much of America. By most accounts, Obama did a masterful job aligning the promise of his candidacy with the grievances expressed by both blacks and whites, noting in particular how the anger of working-class whites over affirmative action and welfare formed the Reagan coalition. But the cable-news noise machine doesn't easily let go of something so juicy as the anti-American rhetoric served up by the Rev. Jeremiah Wright. The now-retired pastor did what the Clinton campaign had been unable to do--put Obama in a box he doesn't need to be in, one that brands him as a candidate primarily of black aspirations. The cable commentators kept pounding away, but in another universe, the one inhabited by Obama's base--the millennial generation--his Philadelphia speech became the most-viewed video on YouTube this week with almost 2.5 million hits so far. Maybe, just maybe, the cable critics and conservative pundits are talking to themselves. |

It is actually generally accepted to address anyone who has held the office of the presidency as President even after their term has concluded. The term "Former President" has mostly come to be used to distinguish between 2 presidents sharing the same name (as in Former President Bush and Current President Bush). Seeing as Hillary is merely a candidate and not even the nominee yet, it is still certainly acceptable (and will always be technically correct) to address Bill Clinton as President Clinton. |

You refer to any former president as "President", it is out of respect.

sure hope she gets it instead of this muslim person who has no right to even run! and i think what bill is doing is great! my vote is with hillary!

i hope nobody's really considering to vote democratic! i would like to see a withdraw from iraq too, but if we pull out before the stability has been obtained, then over 4,000 of our troops will have died for nothing! for the most part, republicans are better for the economy, ours is still bad now from 9-11, not necessary bush's fault! dems act without doing their homework,(i.e. going after our 2nd amendment rights, guess what? more guns, less crime!!!! look it up!) clinton's too wishy washy- for, against, for, against. obama's a muslim, that'll go great on our war on terror. bill clinton dodged the draft, whereas McCain is a war hero, spent many years in a vietnamese POW camp, you really think he'll go wrong with our troops? i'm middle class, but i relate to republicans, less scandals, less taxes, pro 2nd amendment rights, better homeland security. sure, there are some things i disagree with, but it was a dem who instated NAFTA! looking for truth? pay attention to bill o'reilly & glenn beck, not keith olberman, he's biased, & a nit wit.

mission WAS accomplished!! before the 97% casualties, you know what that was? to remove saddam hussein from power. bush lied, people died? how do you know wmd's didn't go to iran & syria. we need to SUPPORT our troops, not start the babykiller vibe that john kerry started on our vietnam vets. we need to learn from our mistakes in history.
|

It's interesting that you state that it isn't necessarily Bush's fault that we are in the mess we are in. Hmm.. let's see. He lied to Congress and to the American people in regards to Iraq having Nuclear arms in order to further and complete the battle that his father was unable to finish. I think you need to open your eyes and see it for what it is. Our country is further in debt to foreign countries and our economy is failing and you want to put back into office the political persuasion that has caused our issues. It's time to put a Democrat into office and tighten the purse strings. No more fat cat tax breaks. |

rich people are taxed more now than before, look it up. & if you sock it to them more, guess what more cutbacks, more layoffs. have you ever worked for a poor person? can you prove bush lied? sounds like a democratic opinion to me, they'll do anything to get elected. obama will magically cure global warming, hillary will drop gas prices (even though theres more demand for oil elsewere) she gonna nuke china? they're sucking up a huge supply. my eyes are opened up more than you think. i keep up on current events. if you look at the broad picture, i think you'll change your mind. i USED to be democratic, before i saw the light. you wanna pay higher taxes to support illegal aliens, thats your business. gov. schwarzenegger said it best- don't be a girlie man, vote republican.

I went to the school to see Bill Clinton; and saw the line around the school about 4,000 people or more. I knew my husband and I could not get in. Why didn't we have Bill at the Music Hall at Purdue? Lots of people where leaving because they could not get in.///////// So sorry to miss this event.

Girlie man? I am a woman. I believe you need to look up the tax cuts that were given to the rich. They are not being taxed more. Middle class is no more due to the Bush enviroment. No, I don't want to support illegal aliens by paying higher taxes and that is not what Hillary or Barack stand for. So we should accept 10 more years of war in Iraq and ignore how China and other countries will own us in the end. Good plan. I'm glad to join the Republican wagon. LOL |
