Jury urges 13 years for slaying

A Newport News man was found guilty of second-degree murder Thursday for killing another man three years ago - with the jury recommending he get 13 years in prison.

It is impossible to replace a knife back into your pants pocket after being shot 8 times. I was disgusted to here the small amount of time the jury gave. It is common sense to know that it doesn't take 8 shots to free yourself from harms way, especially when there was time to walk away, get in your car and leave during the argument. I believe the jury was more touched by the fathers speech as they sobbed while he spoke. The decisions was ludicrous and all 12 jurors must of had lack of common knowledge. I would only hope this act of hate, fury, and over-kill would never happen to any of those 12 people that made that ridiculous decision. If Mr. Jone's had of been in the first state he would have been under the jail.

I can not understand the jury.What kind of people would give a man only 13 years in prison for that.I just hope that this doesn't happen to any of their children.I think they were looking more at the fact that Glenns father was a former marine and that he said they did not raise their son to be a killer.But who does?

To take a mothers child in such a horrific way is very sad. I know that if I follow bible principles I will see Joe again in the ressurection. No the crime did not fit his punishment but at least he is serving some time in jail where Glenn belongs. Overtime I have learned to deal with this. Remembering Joe is easy but forgetting is imposible.

I see from the 4 previous posting that some thing Glenn Jr got off easy. Well he didnt he has to live with this the rest of his life. And his punishment has nothing to do with his Dad being a Marine. Not one of these postings has mentioned the fact that Joe wanted the gun from Glenn Jr because he was going to a fight Hey people wake up. This is very sad that a mother has lost her son to murder and another mother has lost her son to jail for committing this murder. But someone stop and think how many others would have been killed that night if the gun was just handed over. That is not to say anyone is a hero in this but someone was going to be killed that night. A senseless death still happened. Look into the eyes of all your children and figure it out. Are they up to fighting to the point they need to have a gun. 2 families destroyed because 2 young men tried to act like men and didnt know how to.

who ever is trying to protect murderers need to quit. It was not your son that died. Even if that joseph guy did kill someone that night he would have to answer for his crime too. So Crime does not pay. You do the crime you do the time and more. He is just a nother murderer like the rest of these black boys out here.
