She was on the roller coaster named "xtreme" when her safetu harness came up. She was trying to put it down but couldn't and fell 30 feet to the concrete. She died.

Yes it is an awful thing. I've been there many times, and the "xtreme" was one of my favorite roller coasters. My thoughts and prayers are with her family at this time.

Yesterday, the T.V. station in Lafayette interviewed a sixteen year old girl from Lafayette who said she and friends rode that same ride a week earlier. During her ride, she says the harness popped up. She pulled it down, but it wouldn't click. When she stopped, she told the attendant. The attendant cracked a joke about gravity, and did nothing with the knowledge. It appears that they were aware of a problem with the harness.

Honestly, I have rode those rides. And she was a BIG woman. I don't believe the harness ever snapped. Those employees always come by and check on you, no matter what ride you are on. I think she knew it didn't snap. She took a chance, and this is what happened.

We need to check the inside of your skull to see if its hollow or just filled with Ballistic Gel. I want to dissect your thoughts.
First you say "I don't believe the harness ever snapped. Those employees always come by and check on you, no matter what ride you are on." So we must assume, that they did not verify that her harness had clicked. Then with that little piece of crab bait bouncing around in your head, you came up with the brilliant opinion. "I think she knew it didn't snap. She took a chance, and this is what happened" First of all, verifying safety features is not the victims responsibility. She is dependant on the attendant to perform those duties. It's the ride attendant to who took a chance because it appears that he was aware of a malfunction. He's the one to who took a chance. Took a chance with someone elses life. Hey I have an I.Q. test I'd like you to take. What weighs more, a pound of cotton or a pound of steel?

Although the I.Q. test is not for me, I'm guessing the cotton weighs more. I might be wrong but hey it's just a guess! Thanks bliingbling for putting that person in their place, obviously they are very small minded.

It's the employees responsibility to check and make sure eveyone in secured before the ride takes off. This girl was young and in no way should the blame be put on her. We have people stating they don't always check and someone else reported a malfunction. Where is your Heart? This family is suffering the loss of their daughter, relative and her friends let alone the people that witnessed this.

First of all:I do not blame that young lady, the checker should have made sure that she was secured. When you are big, small what ever size, they should have made sure.Example, when I rode the hulk in the Flodria, there four sitted in a row they check each row, because I weighted 210 then and I have large thighs, but it was alittle tight, but it snaped.Make sure your workers are more knowledgable about there rides. Let them know when it come to a ride or any ride these are human beings, who come for enjoyment and to be safe. The key word is knowledgable,an concern about human life, whether it a ride or a water slide.

You are a terrible person for saying that comment about her being BIG. You should be ashamed of yourself. If there is a weight limit then the attendants should notify the rider whether too big or too small. Heavier people like to have fun just like the smaller people.May the Lord comfort her family and friends and the folks who witnessed the accident. And them young kids they hire do not always check you when you get on a ride. I have been going there for many years and most of them barely even glance at your straps.
