This makes me sick! This IS a historic building. It is a vital part of Bath. It disgusts me that anyone would tear down this beautiful landmark! Shame on you Eckerd Drugs!

The town of Bath is slowly dying. Bath needs to move forward. Jobs and change are needed.

The Village of Bath needs new business, true, but does it have to be at the expense of the history of this beautiful village? I think not!

RE: "The town of Bath is slowly dying. Bath needs to move forward. Jobs and change are needed."
You can NOT move forward by abandoning the past. How about using the site for low income housing with the existing BUILDING. CONTRIBUTING citizens are leaving. However~ ONE thing for certain in Bath is that population of NEEDY people IS increasing, as it does in ANY town that is the county seat (Social Services offices). Along with the extra population from the VA. Get the VA guys OUT of Lakeview Senior apartments and give them the old school. I agree We do NOT need another drug store, Eckerds already has a store in Bath,,,, THE WORST thing about building a business at THAT corner would be the TRAFFIC HAZARD of adding a parking lot entrance/exit. While we are talking about "don't needs" we don't need another DOLLAR store either. Even tho' that may be the ONLY PLACES locals can afford to shop..... we have enough of those too. |

Exactly how does keeping a collection of derecript old buildings add to the economic prosperity of anywhere, regardless of what they are used for?
Building a new building provides jobs, money, etc. From outside the town. Refusing an influx of new money doesn't benefit the town. Period. |

The destruction of the old building and building of the new~ only provides temporary work for scab workers that leave when the work is done. Then a handful of low paying jobs for a few people.
TO me TRAFFIC is THE biggest issue... why add an unsafe roadway to Baths growing problems. |

Does anyone know what the status is on the old school? Hopefully it is still there....

I went to the old school. Take lots of pics now oor have some one with artistic talents do a picture of it. The townI live in now tore down our old school and built a beautiful dommunity center and new library in its place. It is used a lot more now than sn old vacant rundown school.

Our town is using the old school turned library building INTO senior apartments. Good idea. |

I live in the town of Bath--we have 2 Rite-aids--one that is closing to combine with the newer one and also a Walgreen is going up. Rite-Aid does about 650 rx's day-1/3 of Bath gets meds from VA.
I agree about a subsidized housing plan--I agree with getting them out of Lakeview apts. I am also a VA Employee. |

Hi NEIGHBOR! I feel bad for a lot of the VA guys~ They are not strong enough to "do it alone" and need subsidized housing AND counsel on SELF worth. Not meds that keep them dysfunctional. You work at the VA, so I need not mention the whole to much meds thing. Actually, it appears that BAth helps the guys lower their intakes so THAT is good. |
