A proposal for "smaller government" gets opposed by the Mackinac center?
What is the world coming to?
Good reason to buy lots of guns and bullets and shoot Republican Party "Leaders" DEAD!
(And I am no Democrat!!!)
It is all about freedom and liberty for ALL Americans....something the Republican Party hates!
When a republican talks about freedom and liberty....it is freedom and liberty for the government they want.
People who want to take freedom and liberty from "The People" and give it to The Government don't deserve to EXIST in the USA!
Good reason to own elephant guns with long range optics!

Everything they stand for (killing innocent babies while staying the execution of evil killers, destroying American Values and destroying America itself) represents everything that the Devil himself would want done to this great nation and it's people. We need to stop being afraid of punishing the guilty and saying outloud what is right, moral and just. We need to remove the illegals by making it illegal to house, employ or do anything that would want them to stay. We need to get them back to their country and provide a safe way of allowing them back to work here and earn living, but not until they are gone. We need to eliminate income tax and go to a complete sales tax system. We need to start drilling for our own oil while we also seek out new energy sources. Everything I've just said that woudl fix this country, the DEms are against. If you agree with what I just said, then DON'T VOTE DEM!! Wake up!! Pure evil...please. I wish I was rich enough, or had the capacity to be selfish enough to be a republican. But I'm into sharing what I have with my neighbor. It makes my community a better place for all. Your post seems to come from a place of deep fear.

Never made it to the ballot. Yet what a blatent attempt by one party to drive an initiative promoting self serving agenda. Terms Limits - Remember that one? Totally GOP driven when that flew thru. Sounds like the MI GOP can't stand taking their own medicine in this case. Before you spout off about the GOP, remember that the GOP didn't mislead us in the marriage proposal, or the term limits. And just who the h*ll do you think got it stuck to them with the SBT? Granmole just came up with a *new* tax that stuck it to "big business" (Like my 5 employee shop). Thanks, but no thanks. Now, the public is whining that the utilities may get adjusted so that everyone, people and businesses alike, pay using the same rate structure. WHY do you think businesses are leaving the *great* state of Michigan? It's because big or small, Michigan's government is chasing them away. And once this ballot proposal gets passed (and I REALLY hope it doesn't under it's current wording), it's only going to get worse. The liberals will tighten their stranglehold on the businesses that feed them. Remember, don't bite the hand.......

If so, you would see that Republicans are out to help people help themselves, not tax one group to pay for another group's lack of effort. In this country, there are countless stories of people who came here (or were born here) with barely 2 nickels to rub together and they are now the RICH you seek to destroy.

You've missed the point. The GOP doesn't like this because it's totally one-sided and does not fairly change the system. Eliminating only conservative judges and re-districting in the Dem's favor is hardly fair. We need to get out of the "payback" mentality and fix what's broken (not break it another way).

In this country, there are countless stories of people who came here (or were born here) with barely 2 nickels to rub together and they are now the RICH you seek to destroy. I seek to destroy no one. But if I can make the effort to help those who may need it in my community (and I make less than 40K per year), then I am sure that those who make considerably more than me can stop whining about taxes. I pay my taxes dutifully without complaint, and give to needy organizations where I can. But it is not just those things...I am not for big business. I am trying very hard to wean myself from purchasing from Wal-Mart and other big corporations in favor of buying local from farmers. It is better for me, and for my community. And yes, it costs a bit more...but I have a social conscience. Personal responsibility is very important to me. But, when people find themselves in poverty, they will go to vast extremes to meet their needs. I think that programs like welfare DO need to be reformed...but we can't abolish them. Otherwise, the impoverished will take where they can. For whatever reason, some people cannot, or refuse to, take care of themselves...but I cannot with a clear conscience ignore them. For me and mine, we work hard, and earn what we have. People are allowed to have more money than others---but it seems like there is a miserly trend among many of the rich. For my middle-class lifestyle though, I will gladly share where I am able, because I feel that it is right. So am I a "bleeding-heart liberal"-sure. But at least I am acting within the parameters of what I believe is moral.

You are right here. This does not seem fair. I was approached to sign this and a stem-cell research petition this spring. I felt that this sounded a bit fishy to begin with, so I didn't sign it.

Best get used to it, they ARE taking over. We did not have a good candidate this time so will be voting for Obama the lesser of 2 evils. Note that I did not say 2 evils ... believe it or not, there are more than 2 political parties in the US.

Chad, regarding the Marriage Constitutional Amendment issue, who was it that promoted the amendment? Wasn't it Republicans? And who was it that used the Amendment to take away domestic partnerships as soon as they could? Again, wasn't it Republicans? Led by the Attorney General?

Republicans as a group share more with their neighbors - by donating more to charities. Everyone is free to share - but the Dems want people to be forced to 'share' for their pet programs. I'm all for supporting charity but remember it's just that regardless of the source. We call it 'entitlements' now but when the gov gives you money (forcibly taken from others) it's still charity.
