I did and I say cult. What kind of "preacher" calls out people in front of the whole church for their sins? Needless to say, I wasn't lining up to drink the kool-aid.

Well I have been there several times and have never seen the paster call anyone out. He does scold the whole congregation sometimes for Gossip etc etc (which he should). Maybe you should tuck those feeling up so they don't get easily stepped on. I'm sure there are churches that are around that would tell you what you want to hear.

Not that I want to hear what I want to be told as much as I want to hear it from someone with a background in Theology not just some nut job that wakes up one day and says he is a preacher.

God calls preachers. I would rather hear from a God-called minister than someone who wakes up one day, goes to college and gets a "degree".

I know a few Atheists who have degrees in Theology. It's not really doing them any good unless their goal in life is to debate the finer points of scripture and dogma.

But since you seem to like "religion" more than old fashioned soul saving faith might I suggest the Episcopalian church here in town. I bet their priest has a degree.

I do not go to Believers. I tried it and it wasn't where I fit. I think there are many things that need to be improved and many things they are doing right. Even though they were not what my family needed I would never call them out in a public forum such as this. Seems...very...unchristian....
Just saying.

i have been goig to Believer's Community Church for 2 yrs...and it is NOT a cult. we are non-demoninational, because we are believers. it is all about a relationship with God. we are involved in alot of outreach programs, such as helping people get off drugs. you should try our church out before making assumptions.

Were you called out for gossiping on this site? If it's so wrong (your admission, not mine) then why do you continue to do it? And what makes you throw out the Episcopal church as a suggestion and not the Methodist or Catholic? I was just wanting to know if others had the same creepy feeling there as I did.

I'm not the one Gossiping. I didn't start a thread calling a church a cult. You did. Episcopal doctren is not a secret, so that isn't gossiping either.

When my family were looking for a church, we heard about BCC. We were concerned to go because of all the rumors we had heard. We decided to try it out because we had a close friend who attended. We gave BCC a try. I'm a former SBC Pastor and my cult activity radar was on high. Considering the rumors we heard, I was surprised to find absolutely NO CULT activity going on. I did find a church full of regular people empowered by God to serve other regular people with all their heart and strength. Why? As an outworking of a genuine love for God. We have attended BCC for more than a year and love serving alongside all these regular people! Does the miraculous occur? Yes it does! I can't help it that God is a God of the miraculous! At BCC we desire that the miraculous happens in every church in town. We pray for other churches and pastors as well as pray for our own church and pastor. Why? We believe that Jesus Christ founded ONE church made up od ALL who believe and that when any church in town is victorious, then WE are all victorious! Christ said that He wanted us all (all believers) to be one, just as God is one. I don't see how that is cultish?!

I believe the official definition of "calling out" is "conviction from God". Look that up in cult text
Reference : John 16:8
Jude 15

So you guys believe in public ridicule rather than forgiveness of sins? What scripture says a person should be hounded from their "leader" if they miss a service due to illness or work commitment? Does he know you lurk around on a local gossip site? Guess that accounts for the alias rather than your real name!

hahaha. i know people who attend this "church" and HATE it for its lack of sprituality and lack of God in its services. this seems to be more along the lines of a get together thats gotten a bit out of hand and got a fancy name. you cannot convince me for a moment that this is a church. theres nothing wrong with someone calling people out for sins, if of course its to get down with them and pray them through to be back in the graces of God, but that doesn't seem to be the case. i would never attend this gathering, never. i would rather be caught dead in a ditch then do so, thats just how i am. if i go to church, im not going to sit and listen to a man go on about how our community needs work, i go to recive the Word and be blessed by God. this is not a Christian church, and i don't see it being one. if you want to argue me, what scripture was the sermon based on last sunday?

The sermon last Sunday was a video message as part of our One Prayer initiative in which we partner with many (I believe at least 1,000) other churches from around the nation and the world of various denominations to build His church thru prayer, giving, and serving globally. Most people who attend any church don't remember last Sunday. But they do remember God speaking to them there. A couple of weeks ago, as the preacher gave a message about opne of King David's warriors, God spoke to me about my own need to step out in the Real courage that only He can and will provide. Men of courageous faith don't wait for the lion, they follow it into its cave, like David's mighty soldier did.
