DHS may be able to help give you information. They do stuff for foster children at Christmas but they could probably get you info about where to go

I'm sorry you're going through this. It's depressing when you can't buy your kids anything. I know exactly how you feel. When you ask for help people call you a moocher and welfare monger but then turn around and say you're a sh!tty parent for not being able to afford presents. Maybe you should try the Angel Tree at DHS. The only problem is I think they have to be at least a year old and not all names get picked I heard. I wish you the best of luck and early MERRY CHRISTMAS(:

thanks for the replies I've checked with the Angel Tree BUT as you said not all kids get picked and you won't know if they weren't picked til December,by then it's really too late to even attempt to scrounge up help for the kids.The youngest is 6 months old so its not a priority to get gifts for her,but my 2 older ones will definately be wondering why Santa couldn't "find" our house to leave them something.I wonder if I could put out a donation jar and people could put their change in the jar instead of giving it to say the literacy thing at DG, or would that be too Tacky?

Help and Hope. All you need is their social security cards. They help with food, clothes, and donated toys.

All children on the Angel tree get presents.
The bank and extra citizens make sure that everyone that applies gets taken care of.
Hope you have a great christmas with your little ones and God Bless You!!!

New Beginings is a preganancy help center. They offer parenting classes or used to. They have what they call mommy money you can earn by attending classes. which in turn you can spend at their store for clothes,toys, diapers etc.. They used to have a program for gently used clothes up to size 5T. you could trade ones your kids outgrew for something different.

This is gonna sound weird, but try contacting the High School's Beta Club. They used to hold anonymous drives for members of the community when I was in school. Students were able to sell passes (to wear a hat in class, drink a coke in class, etc) for a dollar or some other donation. The funds and donations were then turned over to the recipient, and the Betas earned credit hours for their service.

Does your job offer any assistance? Many corporations have charities that allow the employees to make a recurring donation from their paycheck into a slush-fund to benefit needy associates. Check with your human resources manager if you aren't sure.

Why do want for material possessions for you children?

Christmas is a Christian holiday, how about taking your children to church and teaching them the examples Christ taught us?

@Guest

Not all people celebrate the Christian aspects of Christmas. It was originally a pagan holiday and the Christians decided to but their holiday around the same time as a way of connecting with their neighbors and to help to get others to convert.

Although I, personally, am comfortable with celebrating Christmas as a time of togetherness, others want to use this time to show the ones they care for that they love them. How they do this is really no one else's concern. When I was young, my would make donations to the Heifer Project in our names. I think giving gifts is a great way to spread the love and show that you care for those around you.

BUT, back to the OP...try the area schools and see if they are doing any programs this season or ask the area food pantries.

Good luck and God bless. I truly hope you and your children have a wonderful Christmas. If worst comes to worst and gifts cannot be found, focus on bringing your family together on Christmas and having a fun filled day. Build snowmen(if we get snow), bake cookies, and have fun with your kids. They will love and gain so much by getting to spend time with you.

Because kids are supposed to have gifts under the tree to open on Christmas morning stupid. I ain't got anything against going to church but try explaining that you are taking them to church instead of buying them a gift when all the other kids are playing with their new toys. Quit being a dolt.
