Just wanted to let the word out that there is a new place located in Newport that will take in the addict and her children. The children will be supervised. Mom will get to take parenting classes. Will have therapy, and counselors to help you in your sturggle of addiction. You will have people there that has been through the fight with drugs and alcohol and have overcome it.
If you or someone you know is struggling with addiction, but not want to leave their children behind, this may be what you need.
If anyone is interested or know someone who would benefit form this, please let me know. I can e-mail you and give you the numbers you would need to call. You can leave me a message on this sight and I will call you, or if you need my number I will message it to you.

What if the addict is a single dad with kids? Do you have to accept Christ in your life before you can come in?

You do not have to accept Christ in your life. This is a Christian based home or rehab. I wish men could go there, but they are set up for women. I know a lot of men these days who are better caregivers than a mom. Totally respect that. Again, you do not have to be a Christian to go there. There are rules and regulations, but they are to get you where you need to be in life with your family and to overcome your addiction.

Why is it "unfortunate" that your son went there and changed his life for the better?

I'm sure 360 in a complete circle and means you end up right where you were. Not sure about that comment either.

While I applaud your efforts in trying to help a friend I seriously doubt she is ready for rehab. Why do I think that? what kind of a person would want to subject a child to rehab. Geez, do you know what kind of emotional damage that could do to a child? that is way beyond selfish. Secondly, if she really cared about her child she wouldn't have messed with drugs to begin with. So I would support her getting clean, kudos. But wanting to take a child to rehab is questionable, to say the least.

I will never judge someone dealing with addiction. You never know what has led a person down this path, but you have to applaud a person for trying to overcome this. Many women have to make the choice of rehab and being away from their children or staying addicted and keeping their children. I cannot imagine being away from my children for as long as you would have to so you can get the help you need. The environment at Anchor Point is a very comfortable homey type of place. It's a place to heal and have the children with you so you can focus on overcoming your addiction and not worrying about where your children are or who has them. This is for mother's who love their children and want them with them while they are working on themselves.

This is not New Life. It is Anchor Point. Glad to hear your son is doing well. Hope he continues to get better and enjoys his life without having to deal with addictions. I know that when your child has an addiction, it affects the whole family.
