Is there any other state in the United States that has a liquor on the market named Moonshine? It makes me crazy when people in Arkansas do stuff like this that puts us way back in the dark ages...which is where we have been for a very long time......Can anyone say, "Deliverance"

dont you just love living in a place that even the compliments sound as if they are put-downs... "dirty south". I've heard of girls called that for a lot of horrible reasons, but not one good one.

believe it or not, you can legally but real moonshine (corn whiskey, to take a the knee jerk negative reaction of the woord 'moonshine'. it is available online, made in a legit distillery, sold legally. personally, i don't care for the stuff, but thats just me. but, it IS made in a legit place, held up to standards to ensure the safety of the product. google it. in the south, it's moonshine, in the north they have a product called absinthe (not anywhere near similar products, but both are made clandestinely) that is banned in the US. check them both out.

Man, nobody can do what they want without being criticized. It is very easy to move somewhere that isn't so stereotyped, but let me tell, it probably isn't any better anywhere else. There are plenty of places still living in the damned dark ages. And at hey.. at least WE got the moonshine.

Bro Ed is far from 217 years old. Sure he's an older man, but let's be a little bit more realistic than that... Instead of being dumb :) What Bro Ed chooses to do in his free time is his business, how about instead of talking bad about him making a little moonshine, you shut up?:) At least he's doing his legally... Whereas most people around here do it illegally. And just for future reference, Bro Ed DOES NOT sale catfish... Way to make yourself look dumb. Stop trash talking someone who you should be showing respect. Respect your elders!!

Respect got it right, at least he is doing it legally and going about it in the open. I've known Ed for 30 years and he is a fine person who would do anything to help someone who needed it. The folks that "disapprove", are the very people who will be in Newport and Elgin on the weekends, spending tax dollars in Jackson County, then sitting in a pew on Sunday judging Ed. Hiding their true selves behind their cloaks of pretenion and arrogance. News flash everyone---Jesus loves everyone! He doesn't just love some of us, He loves us all. He loves Ed just as much as the next person. The Bible clearly says, God does not want us judging others, that is His job. So, whether you are a member of his church, jealous of Ed's success in life, mad you didn't come up with the idea or whatever in you bitter little life makes you bash Ed, remember, he is one of God's children too. So, let's all get off Ed's back and just be glad he isn't one of 50 bootleggers selling to kids in this county. No one is bashing them. Good luck Ed, I hope it is successful and thank you for being decent, confident and honest enough to do it out in the open!!!

I'm not hiding... I am half Ward. And Ed is my mother's uncle. Up yours!!! He has enough cash to buy TOPIX.COM if he wanted to. But he is a way better business man than that.

LOL Ward.....He probably does have enough "CASH" to buy this lame web site and wish that he would. I found it amusing that you said "CASH". Sure he has it in a fruit jar somewhere hiding it from the IRS....More power to him!!

I have a feeling though that the cash that he has stashed back for years was gotten by hooking and crooking the innocent of Indep. Cty. I grew up here and he has never ever had a good reputation as being an HONEST business man.

I recently had some dealings with him through my job position and I can tell you this, he was hateful, disrespectful and very aggressive in trying to worm out of his bill. I stood my ground and he did end up paying the cost of our services but he acted as if we had robbed him blind. A very good business man knows when he has received good service and is willing to pay others in business what is due them without showing their ars....Again, I think he has gained his "CASH" by hooking and crooking the innocent of Indep. Cty.

I personally don't like the old geezer and have never heard good things about him.

But I do understand why you are standing up for him. After all, you might just get a fruit jar of your own someday, huh?

Guest above, I agree with you. I have been in this town my whole life and I remember when he had Ed Ward Auto Sales at the top of the hill. I was just a teenager and he had this car on his lot that I wanted. I talked to my Dad about it and when he found out who owned it, he refused to even go look at it. He told me that Ed Ward was a crook!

If you stop and think about it, this man has never ever done anything to improve Independence County. I do not know of one property of his that is in good repair and offering good services to good citizens. He owns that old run down building on the left going toward Moorefield and it houses a sex toy store and a hang out for weird gamer kids. I also have to assume that he still owns the lot at the top of the hill that has no new growth going on. If he is such a great business person, then why in the h to the ell hasn't he done anything to help improve our community? Not helping the community is not good business sense.

And as far as the "cash" mentioned....the IRS would probably have a hay day looking into his dealings. This man is not only old.....but an old crook! Sure he will not only make a lot of money with this moonshine thing and also sure that Indep. Cty. will not gain anything from it.

I would hate to know that I was half of anything that he is....seriously!

The Bible clearly says, God does not want us judging others, that is His job.

Yes, it is His job and he will be judging much more harshly than anyone here on earth can do. We can only judge verbally, God will judge eternally. He is an awesome God and He is to be feared. He will condemn to eternal hell fire.
