I think I know someone who submitted false information to get into the Career Pathways program at UACCB. She just started this January. Should that be reported to someone???

No, mind your own business and karma will take care of that person sooner or later. If you start messing with someone else's life karma will get you!

they really dont do much for people anyways! They never have the books I need is the little bit of gas aint worth it! They pay for daycare but you have to pick the child up when you are done with class and what daycare want to take a child for two days a week for four hours.

UACCB is a scam. People go there until they get their Pell checks, drop out, & do it all over again. They money should go to cover tuition & books. What is left should go back into the system and help someone else cover tuition & books.

Not everyone who goes to UACCB drops out after receiving their pell check...That money is from the government and is to cover tuition, books, AND living expenses...and some of us actually need the money! And anyone who is eligible for the Pell Grant receives it, so everyone is getting help.

Like living expenses cover alcohol, tattoos, big screens, and car sound systems. They could raise the eligibility for more people. It's such a waste. But I wouldn't expect people to understand when their hand is open.

My daughter went through Career Pathways and graduated with her degree, so it works IF the person is motivated and truly wants to better themself.

Yes some people may spend it that way but most do not. I receive a pell grant and have NO tattoos, I don't buy alcohol, I dont have a nice vehicle much less a nice system which I dont see the need for, and I def. dont have a big screen...Sounds to me like your jealous of someone who has those things and you need to get over it...and stop assuming that EVERYONE is that way when they arn't!!!!

Not jealous. I work & go to school at the same time. I've kept my legs closed & not got pregnant. It seems like you are rewarded for bad behavior. These same people are getting food stamps and other welfare programs. Not only am I having to pay for school, I'm paying for their way with my taxes. The system is messed up.

UACCB Student..I understand you 100% ive felt that way for a loooong time. I did hear last semester that if they were given pell grants twice and dropped both times that the school was sending them bills to get their money back for the second time if they didnt have a legitimate reason for the drop. I dont know how true this is, but it kind of made me smile a little bit. It all depends on your age, once you turn like 24 they start giving you a little bit of pell, it covers about half the cost of books/classes if you are going 12 hrs.

I'v Worked and gone to school since I turned 16...Iv never gotten anything just handed to me I'v always had to work for it...and The Pell Grant is given based on income... The Pell is there to help people who cant afford to pay for school to be able to pay for it...Im not disagreeing with you some People do abuse the system but NOT EVERYONE does..

I found out the hard way that good grades don't guarantee any financial aid. My parents (who make about 36k combined and couldn't afford to help me out with tuition) made $50 too much for me to qualify for a Pell grant. But that's ok, because I did have the AR Challenge which picked up almost all the tab. And I worked my butt off to pay the rest.

You could get pregnant. Then the aid & free money would start rolling in.

Getting pregnant doesn't mean your going to get more money...I was pregnant and just had my daughter 2 months ago and my financial aid has not changed at all...its the same as it was before I got pregnant.

I have 2 kids and i'm a single parent with a low income job...i do NOT get help with anything besides their insurance, and i barely qualified for that. I started @ UACCB in the summer of 2010 and i was approved for a pell grant. I worked full time, went to school full time and i am a full time mom. I had to stop taking classes in the middle of my second semester because of my job and it was before the last day to drop classes. A few weeks ago, i received a letter stating that i had to pay back the pell grant because i was no longer a student. I only had to pay a portion but it was nearly 1000 bucks. i know people that sign up long enough to get their checks, then they drop out before class even starts. Why are these people not having to pay this back? I don't understand??? Don't get me wrong, i didn't mind paying it back because it felt like the right thing to do but if i should have to pay it back then why doesn't everyone else?

Anyone ever notice how you can find a parking spot the day after they hand out Pell Checks?
