I for one received no phone call and 3 hours later was called to pick up my kids off the bus that was stopped in a parking lot.

This weather front really took everyone by surprise. I am sure they were trying to make the best decision for everyone.

I agree, no one was expecting the amount of weather we received. And as parents we had the right to pick our children up anytime we wanted. You didn't have to wait until school was cancelled!

100% false. Rumor starting nonsense. The State funding is not subtracted when weather is an issue. The full day time cap is 4.5 hours or 12:30pm. School was called at 11:30am. This storm caught everyone off guard. And BTW, what kind of parent waits for the school to call if they are concerned for their safety? sounds like you have an ax to grind with someone because you just posted a ton of untruths.

The point is they should have called parents. I have spoken to multiple parents that were not notified properly.

um dumbass. It started snowing less than hour before they let the kids know. And are you saying if there's a 20% chance they should let them out.

All I have to say about this is that whomever said to put the buses out on this needs there head checked. I saw 2 batesville bus wrecks. One was n a ditch and the other bus was facing up hill on a 2 lane down hill road only. I have alot of people i know that have kids that go to batesville and they r pissed off to no end cause of the decision made today. Southside on the other hand, they called every kids parents and said to come and pick up your child, we r not running buses and we will remain at the school until the parent is able to get there to get them. I smell a lawsuit going toward batesville and GREAT JOB SOUTHSIDE for making the right decision today!!!!!!!!!!

A lawsuit for what, was your child hurt or harmed in any way? Was anyone hurt? Or you just wanna act like you know what you're talking about?

Leaving children on a bus for hours doesn't seem like a safe environment. Ppl are upset with good reason maybe they don't have a lawsuit but they are owed explanations. So now do you want to act like you know what you're talking about?

Yes come to Southside...Batesville seems to be lacking common sense. Our Administration was smart enough to not even let the busses pull out of the parking lot.

Wow, how many of you would be bitchin had the school administration had a crystal ball and called off school the night before. I could have just imagined all the posts when the sun came out yesterday morning around 8:15. "Holy smoke they called off school and the sun is shining." "I had to get a babysitter," I had to miss work"

Yesterday caught everbody off guard especially the weather service, they even admitted this was not expected.

I find it comical that the kids are so cherished when someone thinks the school screwed things up, but let them dismiss school when it doesn't snow because the weather service predicted it and then people are up in arms over that.

Oh by the way I think you can go get your kid any time you feel it necessary just by signing them out, shouldn't you have known the weather was going to get bad, aparrantly ya'll are smarter than the school administration. You should have just kept them at home yesterday and they would not have been trapped on a bus.

Use a little common sense people before you get on here and start bashing everybody.

Don't worry winter will be over soon...

My kids go to Batesville and never were put on the bus. The ones that were on buses were not on the bus for hours when they couldn't get anywhere they took them to the nearest school. Parents were called to come get them and told were each child was located. Im a happy parent with Batesville school districts response to the snow. A lot of the buses problems were the other people on the roads. If people that dont know how to drive on snow would stay off it the people that can wouldn't have any problems.

I'm here to inform you my child was on a bus for 3 hours and I was not contacted about the school dismissing. My son called once they were at stages parking lot.

You guys should check with the school and make sure they have your correct phone number, I got at least 3 calls from the district office letting me know what was going on.

Personally I don't worry about the school staff other than the bus drivers. When I rode the bus at Batesville some of the bus drivers (not all) could not drive and even when there wasn't snow there were wrecks all the time. I know you have to have a cdl or whatever to drive the bus but are they really educated enough to drive in bad weather?

Well a girl I work with was told her daughter was at batesville high school and she looked for her for 3 hours. It turns out that her child was at the preschool. If they would have lost my daughter like that they would have hell to pay

I wanna play. OK here goes. My child was taken off the bus and sold to Martian human traders who were buying young kids and training them to be vampires. This was part of the New World Order being led by it's leader Elvis Pressley (you thought he was dead? fools). The Administraitors at BSD made millions of dollars yesterday selling children to Martians. I swear, people are so petty and down right stupid. This storm came on so suddenly that even the National Weather Service said it was surprised. The schools did a wonderful job keeping the kids safe in what was an unforseen emergency. Some parents are upset because they didn't send a limo to take them to their kids and then out to dinner. AT NO TIME were any children in any danger and many teachers stayed 5 hours to make sure the kids were looked after. Now I ask the half assed, not involved, uneducated "parents" this? if you see an awful snow storm and see the streets getting white and the entire town in emergency mode do you honestly expect anyone to believe that you waited until you got a phone call to take action? if that's the case then I pity your poor children.
