This was one of the worst accidents I have witnessed in my life, it keeps replaying in my head. Rest in peace David.

Maybe if people didn't have such a thirst for this crap (and such low I.Q.'s that seeing things get smashed up is their entertainment), these sorts of things wouldn't happen. How many boxers have permanent brain damage because neaderthals want to see one man bash another's brains in and are willing to pay for it? One step above cavemen. Seriously. Now watch them go ahead and try to defend their "fun." I feel sorry for the poor family. What a way to go.

Aww, my deepest sympathies to the family. While I see demolition derbies as "Bumper Cars for Big Boys", I understand the attraction and excitement involved. This man was working the safety crew, then gets hit himself. So sad. RIP, David.

As a fan of the "demo's" at the Hemlock fair, I'm not surprised that someone got hurt. The people amongst cars are a problem that is remedied by more rules and a slower derby-and there goes the excitement. It looks like next year I'll have to get there at noon with a blanket to get the choice seats on the bleachers.

Why was he so close? I love derbies.. and I love watching those cars smash up...I just think they would do a "safety watch" from a safe distance.

Im the wife a man that runs the demos all the time. This is the worse things that could have happened. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Mark and his family. They loved the demos and were one of the most respected crews that i have seen.. Rest in peace Dave. He will be remebered ever time a car drives out on the track!

Exactly. I am very sure the driver of the car that hit his man feels terrible about it. He most certainly would not have intended to hit him and was most likely an ACCIDENT.

This was truly a great man. He gave so much time to the community, youth and sports programs at Livonia. Everything he did was for others and his wonderful family. He loved his wife, children and was such a powerful presence in his grandchildren's life. Our thoughts are with his family!!!

Isn't it the job of the "safety official" to make sure no-one gets hurt???
