Batavia woman dies in crash with deputy

A Batavia woman delivering newspapers on Colby Road in the town of Darien was killed about 2:36 this morning when her car was struck by a Genesee County Sheriff's Office car driven by Deputy Jason Saile, 30. via Democrat & Chronicle

they claim the cop was responding to an emergency with his lights and siren going. if that was the case why was he not able to drive on the other side of the road when he came over the hill and found the lady on his side of the road. i think he was going to fast and was unable to control his vehicle enough to get over so that he wouldn't hit and kill an innocent person. it's a shame because the person that hit the lady was a police officer, there won't be anything more said about the accident, the brotherhood works to their advantage.

The police are never at fault!!!!! They will investigate this but we all know that it will not be found to be the police at fault. This poor woman was just doing her job like she did everyday, and a sheriff going to fast ended her life forever. My thoughts and prayers go out to her family and friends, I hope that they get closure in this event.

he should have slowed down when he seen head lights.most exsperence cops do.

what does everyone have against the police? can any of you imagine what this man is going through? he tried to swerve to avoid hitting but she was too far out. im in no way blaming here but its not completly the officers fault. yea he was speeding but he was also responding to another emergency.this doesnt make him inexperienced or above the law. he was doing his job and did what he could to avoid that accident. give him a break

I fully agree that what happened is a terrible tragety, but think about what that officer must must be going thorugh as well. He was doing his job just as much as she was. Don't blame it all on the police. It was an accident not a murder. Perhaps it could have been prevented had the cop been going slower, or maybe her light weren't on or what ever. The Batavia woman lived across the street from me for many years and i feel sorry just as much as the next person. No one is at fault, no the police officer, not the woman. let her rest in peace and let the police officer alone.

Their has been so much tragedy that the outside world of Batavia is obilivious too. I am a nurse, and I see tragedy daily with children, young adults, parents, grandparents. Their is no reason for accidents or death. It is what it is. The most recent example I can think of is the family, the entire family loss on a Sunday morning. Is there any persepective. No. I value each day I have with my family, of which 2 are teenagers and driving. I can only pray and support these families. Do not place blame. God has a path for all of us. Although we do not understand it, and it makes us angry without understanding we unfortuanetly have to move forward for each other.

So many people spend their time trying to lay blame for an accident. Sometimes an accident is just an accident. We should be spending even more time trying to help the family of this poor woman and the officer. He will have to deal with this the rest of his life. He does not need to be harrased and condemned for doing his job. If it had been your father or son that had been there, would you still feel the same? The men and women of ALL of our emergency services, put themselves out there for us..everyday. Where would we be when someone broke into our homes, stole our cars, or worse killed or raped our children, if we did not have them to hunt theses others down? Try showing compassion. What is the saying .. judge not lest ye be judged? or even better,,, those without guilt cast the first stone. I could go on but if you haven't gotten it yet you never will. Thank you to all those that fight for us everyday.

We know the route, delivering papers at night
is known by police. Going super high speed and
basically blind going over a hill is or should
be illegal.
Sure the deputy is sad, crying in his beer.
The grandmother who was helping a relative is
dead. Sorry no comparison.
Hopefully a mulitmillion dollar law suit will
prevail. That and only that will wake up those
speeding blindly on hillls.
Newspapers are delivered all over the country
every night. That that give the deputies the
right to kill them and walk away just sad ?

i just think that it is so sad what happened, and i think that it was an accident i am sure that he would not have intentionaly killed anyone of course, and i feel bad for both him, and the fmaily of the lady as well, but face the fact we live in america and we have a legal system, and regardless of his postiion he should still be tried for this becuase there should be no one above the law, and if we were in a situation that was an emergancy, and we would have done the same thing than we still would go on trial regardless of accident or not.

Obviously speeding at night over a blind hill is
100% wrong. Newspapers are delivered that way to
get to the mail boxes every night. And the deputy
didn't know that ??
Anyone else a breath test would have been preformed immediately, a ticket would have been
issured, a license to drive would have been at
least temporarily lifted.
We in the Batavia area now notice a change in the
sheriff's deputes driving style.
Go to court relative and make them pay big time
and it will save many lives in the future.
