Hippie hollow is still nude, and a nice place if you are into wrinkled old hippies who never heard of sunblock...
Lake Travis has been AWESOME of late, with the great weather and decent levels.
As far as anything new, forget it, it's still just bars and bad live music in usually inappropriate places, the last thing I want to have to suffer through is some barely pubescent couch surfer making up for his lack of talent with volume while I try to talk with a friend as we drink our lattes... Austin is proof that live music isn't always good music.
Once you grow up and begin to get grown up tastes, Austin has nothing left to offer. So once you have bored of 6th street(depending on your IQ and level of alcoholism), you're pretty much done with this town.

good places to see music most people don't know:

tc's lounge- real blues, on the east side.

elephant room- basement jazz club, one of the top ten in the us.

LOL!!! Babe, I've been running around this town longer than you have been alive. Marc Katz and I are on a first name basis, DK and I... Well, that's classified, all of it.. From flight lessons out of Robert Mueller, to enjoying the last night of Liberty Lunch.
I've watched Austin change, and most of the time for the worse. We are too big to keep catering to such kiddie tastes, we have all the hassles now of a big city, with few of the benefits to offset the downside. My travels of late have revealed that Austin is one of the cheaper places to live in America right now, but before you jump for joy realize how bad that news is.. Cheap living has it's costs, because being poor is actually VERY expensive. That means our labor pool is unskilled and undereducated, and the cheap living will attract more burger-flippers and ditch diggers. Also our cities marketability is falling off a cliff. All conditions that make Austin harder and less pleasant to live in.
Austin MUST make some hard choices YESTERDAY, the largest one is to either grow up, or be another tourist trap barrio like San Antonio.
