Which one of the 12 tribes of Israel do you belong to?
Just asking.
The Bible is "This and That", "This not That".

Oh the Protestants wish the Church had not declared James as the inspired and inerrant written word of God,

Protesters have so much problem with James. Luther tried removing it. Have you torn the pages out of yours?

Show me your works and I can show you your faith.

"Oh the Protestants wish the Church had not declared James as the inspired and inerrant written word of God."

Since there is neither Jew nor Greek (gentile) for the body of Christ, why then does James write an epistle to the 12 tribes of Israel (Jews).

Martin Luther wasn't smart enough to figure it out, but maybe you can.

Don't need too. James explained it to the Church if there were questions about it at the time. James was alive to explain it to them.

The Church taught me. Who taught you? I know William did.

The Jews had works but lacked faith. You need both.

The Early Church Fathers believed we are justified by faith and works. The works in question are not accomplished by the goodness of the individual, but by the grace of God.

When we hear,'Your faith has saved you,' we do not understand the Lord to say simply that they will be saved who have believed in whatever manner, even if works have not followed. To begin with, it was to the Jews alone that he spoke this phrase, who had lived in accord with the law and blamelessly and who had lacked only faith in the Lord (Stromateis or Miscellanies 6:14:108:4 [post A.D. 202]).

Origen

Whoever dies in his sins, even if he profess to believe in Christ, does not truly believe in him; and even if that which exists without works be called faith, such faith is dead in itself, as we read in the epistle bearing the name of James (Commentaries on John 19:6 [A.D. 226-232]).

Gregory of Nyssa

Paul, joining righteousness to faith and weaving them together, constructs of them the breastplates for the infantryman, armoring the soldier properly and safely on both sides. A soldier cannot be considered safely armored when either shield is disjoined from the other. Faith without works of justice is not sufficient for salvation; neither is righteous living secure in itself of salvation, if it is disjoined from faith (Homilies on Ecclesiastes 8 [ca. A.D. 335- 394]).

What Christian heroes do you have can you quote between 100 and 1500.

For what? Salvation? Then you have contradicted Paul in his letter to the Ephesian gentiles.

The most common mistake that Catholics make. They run to James, which is written to the 12 tribes of Israel, because they think that they are "spiritual Israel" and are then forced to shoe-horn Paul's 13 epistles into their doctrine of Replacement Theology/Lordship Salvation/Baptismal Regeneration.

No wonder people are leaving in droves.

10 of the 12 tribes are hebrew. The jews are from the Tribe of ben and Judah. they were the only one left after the Banishment of the 10. Jesus even said it, leave the house of judea and go to the lost house of Israel and spread the Good News.

You didn't finish the question. Which of of the 12 tribes of Israel do you belong to that is scattered about.

They leave to be like you. Believe whatever you want. Not guilt. Do what you want because you said a prayer. No Authority telling you anything. "The Democracy of God".

1600 years later you have finally figured out with one of the 30,000 translations of the Bible and your own imagination.

Sorry there are millions like you who think you are wrong and you think they are wrong.

"1600 years later you have finally figured out with one of the 30,000 translations of the Bible and your own imagination."

How many does the Catholic church use? I've got an 1899 D-R copy that the Catholic church used for years, and it is almost verbatim to a 1611 KJV. But now, the newer versions that the Catholic church uses don't even agree with the text of the 1899 D-R.

So please, spare me the lecture about the Catholic church "inventing" the Bible, when it neither goes by the Bible or bothers to maintain any consistency in the translations that it has used.

SO I guess you created the Bible too?

Tell me the truth. You learned to hate Catholics from your parents or your pastors or both?

Probably from an early age.

Its tough to be born innocently into heresy. I know. I was but overcame that.

Speaking of popes, how do you like Francine's new Don't Ask, Don't Tell policy regarding gays?

Ought to be a big hit when it comes to recruiting new priests.

Mike, just admit it. You really have no idea what you actually believe. You just went with the prettiest church buildings and artwork. No wonder you left the Baptist church.

Then you join Barnweb, killedjoe and Yolanda in the Pantheon of Topix Crazies. You come here bashing the Catholic Church by name yet you hide your church. It has to be the CofC since it attracts the most Topix Crazies.

You really are ignorant. Semi-literate even. But for the third time, I belong to the church, the body of Christ.

It's in that Bible your church purportedly created. See if you can dust it off and find it. Most likely not, but you know right where those keys are!
