The salvation of God is free to those who
will do what is required to receive it.

To receive the salvation of God,
it will cost you, your life.

You say it is free but then you say it it not. You have to do something. Which is it?

What did you give to God in return for His salvation?

You answer. Your first post said you have to do what is required. If Something must be required then it is not free.

Deuteronomy 30:20
That thou mayest love the Lord thy God, and that thou mayest obey his voice, and that thou mayest cleave unto him: for he is thy life, and the length of thy days: that thou mayest dwell in the land which the Lord sware unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give them.
KJV

God gave the promised land to the Iraealites and they had to obey God in order to get it.

Before a Christian is saved, they are dead in their sins (Ephesians 2:1). We were dead. A dead person has nothing. Jesus purchased us back from the dead at a high price.(1 Corinthians 6:20, 7:23). We were dead, we were born again. We have nothing to offer in return for salvation that Jesus does not already possess. You have nothing to offer that does not already belong to Him.

Salvation is indeed a gift. Even if it costs us our physical lives, it's still a gift.

Who told what to believe. Who told you what the Bible means?

Your parents and a preacher man? Who gave them that authority?
