In the Churches of Christ rules and principles applicable to the Sunday morning worship service are not applicable to everyday life. It is as if they are Christians on Sunday and must adhere to an unwritten creed book or legal code but rest of the week its okay to pick up that banjo and pick out a tune to amazing grace as long as you’re in your home or some other place other than the Church building.

*Women are not permitted to lead at church because the Churches of Christ believe that the Bible teaches women were created to be in submission to men, were to be taught by men, and women were to obey men.

*Women are not permitted in the business meetings of the church, and are not permitted to vote at Church.

*Woman can distribute the cups of grape juice and cracker either. Young men can though even their Sons.

But on Monday morning a good Christian woman from the Churches of Christ is permitted to be the boss at work, and she may call one of the elders of her church who works for her into her office and fire him for insubordination.

*Instruments of music are not allowed to be used in Church, but instruments of music are great at a football game, or a school concert.

Where do the Church's of Christ get their "rules"? I'm confused, we can't really compare things done in worship to things done in the world, can we?

From Campbell in 1800.

They get their rules from their study of the New Testament. Go by one of the local congregations and they likely have a tract on 'Why I am a member of the Church of Christ' or some tract saying they are the only true Church today.

Wait one minute , you cannot judge a church of Christ unless you have worshipped with us . We try to follow all the teachings in the New Testament to the letter . We have never taught or said that we were the only church of the Lords. We believe that all churches who follow Christ and obey the teachings of Him and the apostles are Churches of Christ.

The Church of Christ denomination was squeezed out of the Baptist butthole of Alexander Campbell who by the way also had his own version of the New Testament in which he left out or changed words he did not like. The idea that what the CofC does on Sunday resembles that of the early Church is ludicrous. Its worship spaces look just like Baptist churches inside, it ignores early Christian hymns and uses Baptist hymns along with Anglican, Lutheran, Presbyterian, Methodist and even Catholic hymns, it uses pasteurized Welchs for Communion, it has a water tank up front, it follows the Baptist order of worship just to name a few.

If I do know and have worshipped with the CoC for 60 years, am I qualified to say what I know? My grandfather was a CoC preacher, my Dad was a CoC preacher, two brothers are CoC preachers, and I even went to David Lipscomb University an majored in Bible in preparation to also become a minister and have also served on the board of a CoC for corporate matters of the Church - and was appointed to the board by the Elders of the Church. Yes, I know what I'm talking about.

The Church of Christ has dropped the ball at immersion for the very reasons stated in Acts 2:38,39. The get people to that point and then pretend it's about their interpretations of what the 'pattern of worship' and 'pattern of salvation' is. This is NOT what the Scriptures say. Just keep reading from Acts 2:38 through the end of Acts 3. What Peter quotes in Acts 3 is as important as baptism by the promise of God. I won't deny the we are placed into the body of Christ, the Church, at the time we are immersed - it's the promise of God to all future generations from that day. So those in the CoC call themselves 'Brother' so and so - you understand that, I'm sure.

Note the next warning from Peter - that was from Moses -'whosoever will not hear that Prophet, whatever He says, will be cut off from the brethren.'

After immersion, we are to be taught and counseled to keep His commandments and grow in our knowledge and application of everything He taught.

Which Church of Christ teaches that fact of the faith - once for all delivered to the saints?

Yeah, the I had it out with the head of the Bible Dept. at DLC before I left. It was quite a debate in the midst of the Bible majors. At the time I had no patience for rude and willfully ignorant people.

I preach in a non-instrumental coc Keith but have been quite liberated from bondage. BW and I do have knowledge of the coc.

Catholics do not see their thick headness when they finger point. They believe that the CC has the divine right to do anything it which and God must follow. This is their basic belief, therefore has catholic within the CC, they too have the right to finger point. They really do believe that they created everything that the Christian world believes. Yet they don't realize that the original christian were Jews practicing the jewish customs for almost 300 years, while they knew that Jesus is the anointed one. the only 4 jews that they rtecognized are Mark, Luke, John, Matthews. The CC ignored the writings of Peter, Mary Magd, Thomas. ETC ETC. When the CC came about, it was the beginning of a very bitter battle within all the difference Christians in the known world on who was teaching the "truth" Over time the CC became the prime source of the teaching because it use violent and killing other christian for not comforming to the CC teaching. This divine right thinking and controling continues to this day.
