I thought only Amish, Mennonites and Jehovah's Witnesses practiced shunning. This has to be be a faux wanna be shunning. Jesuscreed must have brought Alexander Campbell's New Testament to church.

Did Johnny have his daughter/paid secretary Chay Robertson Shrewsberry shunned and made to publicly repent before the assembly when she had sex before marriage?

This is so stupid. I have not been @ that church since 2006. I know they excummincate people if that's what you mean by shunning.

They do not acknowledge Alexander Campbell as a Christian nor do they acknowledge him as founding the church of Christ "denomination." Nope, I never brought Alexander Campbell's New Testament there :-0

Mike, some Catholics acknowledge other people-no-Catholics as Christians - do you? I get the impression you do not. If not, why not? To be more specific: what doctrines are essential to be a Christian? Book, chapter, verse?

It matters not what they acknowledge. The CofC did not exist prior to Alexander Campbell.

I believe what the Church Jesus started teaches. Only the Church can say who is or not a Christian. The Church has the power to bind and loose. It is the pillar of truth.

Non- Catholic churches are ecclesial communities.

The Church realizes people can't be blamed by the circumstances of their birth.

But non Catholics who attack the Church after they know what she teaches are blasphemers.

From the CCC:

817 In fact, "in this one and only Church of God from its very beginnings there arose certain rifts, which the Apostle strongly censures as damnable. But in subsequent centuries much more serious dissensions appeared and large communities became separated from full communion with the Catholic Church - for which, often enough, men of both sides were to blame."269 The ruptures that wound the unity of Christ's Body - here we must distinguish heresy, apostasy, and schism270 - do not occur without human sin:

Where there are sins, there are also divisions, schisms, heresies, and disputes. Where there is virtue, however, there also are harmony and unity, from which arise the one heart and one soul of all believers.271

818 "However, one cannot charge with the sin of the separation those who at present are born into these communities [that resulted from such separation] and in them are brought up in the faith of Christ, and the Catholic Church accepts them with respect and affection as brothers .... All who have been justified by faith in Baptism are incorporated into Christ; they therefore have a right to be called Christians, and with good reason are accepted as brothers in the Lord by the children of the Catholic Church."272

819 "Furthermore, many elements of sanctification and of truth"273 are found outside the visible confines of the Catholic Church: "the written Word of God; the life of grace; faith, hope, and charity, with the other interior gifts of the Holy Spirit, as well as visible elements."274 Christ's Spirit uses these Churches and ecclesial communities as means of salvation, whose power derives from the fullness of grace and truth that Christ has entrusted to the Catholic Church. All these blessings come from Christ and lead to him,275 and are in themselves calls to "Catholic unity."276

Wonder if I can find those teachings in the Bible. I keep forgetting, we dont need the Bible. What was Luke thinking when he recorded the early Church? How dare Paul write to the churches of Christ and leave out all of them Catholic doctrines. What was he thinking :-)

'Ye rulers of the people, and elders of Israel, if we this day be examined of the good deed done to the impotent man, by what means he is made whole; be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole. This is the stone which was set at naught of you builders, which is become the head of the corner. Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.'"

That Luke must have one bad memory. He forgot to mention sacraments and good deeds of merit. Wonder what Luke says about being added to THE CHURCH? Oh no, I forgot, we can’t depend on the Bible. However, what did Luke record? Mike, Luke records Peter preaching a sermon whereby sinners responded in faith, repenting and being baptized. CAN YOU BELIEVE THIS!!! Peter said them sinners were added to the CHURCH. What! How dare Peter make such a claim. I mean, coming from the “first Pope” and he forgets to explain what all THE CHURCH teaches. I’m sure he done the Hail Marys and all after they were baptized – lol.
