The Roman Catholic church is not perfect, just like Protestant churches. The history of the RC church is replete with heresy, and atrocities, and controversies, just like many Protestant churches. This is because it is a church made up of sinful people, desperately in need of grace from God. Has the church failed? Yes, of course she has. Many times. Just like Gomer, we are, running from God over and over and over again. But just like Hosea, God take us back. Protestant, Catholic, Orthodox, it doesn't matter. We're all sinners in need of His grace, and it doesn't matter the name of on the church door, that fact doesn't change.
Personally, I'm just grateful that He is longsuffering with our infidelity, and that He shows us his love and grace and mercy best exhibited on the cross at Calvary.
And MarkEden... before you respond to this post with your typical cynicism, you can please and thank you kiss my grits. With both lips.
You hold the words of Jesus is very low esteem except when they fit your views as all Protestants.

Do you really think the Church Jesus created is not perfect? Do you think Paul made a mistake that the Church is the pillar and foundation of Truth?

Where did Jesus say one day his change would need reforming and I will send some Protesters to start 40,000 new Churches all with the truth.

You think of Jesus in human terms.

Classic Sola Scriptura protestantism/New Ageism on display for all to see and a PK to boot! You mentioned the Gutenberg Bible earlier. Does your Bible contain the same books as the Gutenburg Bible? Not very likely. You see there were no prots around when the Gutenberg Bible was printed. It contains the very same Canon that had been in all Bibles for centuries before. So if, according to you, Jesus knew the Gutenberg Bible was to be printed He must have meant for every one of those books to be included don't you think?

The gutenberg bible is nothing more then the bible itself That the CC canon.. CC did not allow "common" people to read the bible. It was forbidden by the CC for them to read the bible. When it became affordable , folks started to read the bible, and saw things in the bible that were not being taught, and things being taught, were not mention in the bible,

Ignorance.

There is not one instance in the 2,000 year old history of the CC, that anybody was forbidden to read the Bible as it was created in AD 382.

Copies were chained in the Churches that could afford them so anybody who could read could come in and read them. They were secured like a very valuable book in a library is today. They were very often stolen and they were scarce and expensive.

To read history is to cease being Protestant.

If the Bible is a Catholic book-

1. Why does it condemn clerical dress?(Matt. 23:5-6).

2. Why does it teach against the adoration of Mary?(Luke 11:27-28).

3. Why does it show that all Christians are priests?(1 Pet. 2:5,9).

4. Why does it condemn the observance of special days?(Gal. 4:9-11).

5. Why does it teach that all Christians are saints?(1 Cor. 1:2).

6. Why does it condemn the making and adoration of images?(Ex. 20:4-5).

7. Why does it teach that baptism is immersion instead of pouring?(Col. 2:12).

8. Why does it forbid us to address religious leaders as "father"?(Matt. 23:9).

9. Why does it teach that Christ is the only foundation and not the apostle Peter?(1 Cor. 3:11).

10. Why does it teach that there is one mediator instead of many?(1 Tim. 2:5).

11. Why does it teach that a bishop must be a married man?(1 Tim. 3:2, 4-5).

12. Why is it opposed to the primacy of Peter?(Luke 22:24-27).

13. Why does it oppose the idea of purgatory?(Luke 16:26).

14. Why is it completely silent about infant baptism, instrumental music in worship, indulgences, confession to priests, the rosary, the mass, and many other things in the Catholic Church?

So do prots think were Jews forbidden to read the Torah? After all it was kept locked up in a cabinet in synagogues and you couldn't even touch it with your fingers. No one ever had their own copy as they were incredibly expensive and took years to make. Looks like the first printed one is from the late 15th century but even today Torahs used in synagogues must be hand written and still very expensive.

I am sorry, Please go do your research. The cc said that because most men were not educated, you were not to read the bible cause you would not understand it and just do what your told to get to heaven. I remember very well, when I barely got a passing (back then 75 was the passing grade) grade for prose and poetry, that I would be spending a lot of time in purgatory for my laziness. If that was said in the late 50's early 60's, think what they said back in the 13-1400's. They condemn Columbus, saying the world was round. PS, I think it was you who said the K of C was created by CC to honor him. Wrong. Again, go research. All kidding aside, but you are a typical Catholic, afraid to learn, cause it might go against what the CC says. Trust me when I say this about you. Many times I stay at the convent and my mother came to get me. Why, I question what I was being taught. Ex: Why are you teaching me not to pray to faults idol and statues, but I had to get on my knees to pray to a statue of Mary with rosary beads. Isn't this a form of paganism.

I read somewhere today that an ordinary new Torah costs $30,000.

Hey, no need for remarks like that. Having a difference of opinion about facts is one thing, but to talk like an a s is uncalled for. Now if you don't want to research, that's your call, but history is history. Fact are facts. CC wanted complete control over it church. Even when they were lying to the people. Are you also in denial that the CC killed people cause they were born in another part of the world and killed them cause they refuse to convert. What do you thing went on in Europe. Excommunicated cause you didn't do your Easter duty. This still goes on.

MarkEden makes such a good example of Catholicism, doesn't he? Makes me want to go and sign up right now.

That is, if I liked being abused all the time, which is the picture he paints here with his attitude.

Mike Peterson, you might want to have a chat with him about his witness.

What you are saying is just so off the wall without one example that you can prove it makes you sound something is a little off.

For example Columbus is a Catholic hero. The Church's largest fraternal order is named after him. The Church even supported most of his trips with money.

The politically correct crowd even attacks the Church for honoring him because they think Columbus is the source of all the America's problem because he brought white people to the new world.

Can't stand it when someone tells you what they really think of you can you? No doubt you are accustomed to everyone thinking you are so smart, kind and considerate with superior knowledge about all things spiritual. Well your statement about Gutenberg instantly showed how silly you really are. Unlike your friends, I simply don't put up with it. Kumbaya.

Go research who started K of C. Give you a hint. A priest in Conn, USA. Why. To stop the catholics from joining other Christians organization. Columbus was no hero to the CC. It did everything in it's power to stop him from Sailing and even threatened the King and Queen of Spain. Back then Royality still answered to the Pope. History did not started to blame Columbus for the for what happen to the natives until in the mid 20th century. By you attacking, shows that there are things you say without knowing. Like I said, history is history, facts are facts. You don't want to go research and learn, find. That what you can believe. Again, I dare you to look it up
