Read Richard Slayton's "Savers of the Soul." It's a wonderful little story and great for book adiscussion group. My group had a stimulating discussion about the book last Thursday. The theme is very relevant to New Jerseyians, and I believe the author lives in New Jersey or is from NJ. So...

I read this book on the plane ride from New Jersey to Florida. It is truly a novella in the traditional sense. I loved it, because I related to the character of Shamus. I am an old man myself who has witnessed too many unwanted and ugly changes forced upon the places I have lived. The author told a great story about people who want to remain simple. Read this book if you have some time. You can read it in one sitting.
