Sadly, I will die of old age before this young felon is put to death. If the death sentence was swiftly carried out, as it should be in cases like this where he was clearly the killer, then justice would be served. Unfortunately he'll spend the majority of the rest of his life being coddled by the Florida Department of Corrections. I would say I hope he's miserable...but I am sure...a beast like this young felon is, he has no feelings, emotions, or remorse. So the best I can hope for is somewhere for Karma to come around and serve whats due.

I agree - what's worse is the roll-of-the-dice way that Crist decides who gets executed and who doesn't - it is ridiculous that there is no real criteria in place, like say, date of conviction, status of appeals, or (gasp) nature of the crime to decide which guys we continue to feed and which ones finally receive the punishment meted out by the State.

Hey, at least he plead guilty and avoided the expense of a trial, saving the taxpayers cash and the victims family more grief. Maybe we should open an express lane?

Anyone who kills a police officer should get the death penalty , no questions ask. There has to be a deterrent to shooting at Police officers. They have a very dangerous job and anything we can do to discourage these young thugs from firing on a cop should be used.

Yeah, but with the State of Florida under the gun for obtaining false convictions for various reasons (see Sott Maxwell's article about the dog who could smell the perps long after the crime in Taking Names) there won't be, and that's a drain on our tax dollars. I think we should have expedited (express lanes, if you will) processes for those who admit their guilt and express their desire for the penalty. There are tons of convicted murderers who do not want the appeals and don't want to sit on death row for 20 years. Some are even on death watch, so that they cannot do for themselves what we cannot seem to do! Nonsense!

If you come to Florida and kill one of us, we'll kill you back.

How primitive and costly.

Not an exact science, but would you like to give them a cookie instead? How about three hots and a cot for the rest of their miserable lives on your dime? Also primitive and costly.

Oh great! As a Catholic I now will be forced to listen to Bishop Wenski ask us to write letters to the Governor not to sign a death warrant because it is vengeance. The Bishop and Catholic women's groups will set days to picket the prison on execution day. He was such a good boy and born in the image and likeness of Jesus. Forget that he broke a Commandment. Will he ask for forgiveness? What penance will he do? But they will never mention to give unto Caesar the things that are Caesar. Maybe I can volunteer to inject him.

Daily Horoscope for December 23

Gemini

You're in a very erratic mood today, making you restless, edgy and nervy. It may be almost impossible to settle to anything for long, because, as Mercury slows, you soon lose interest. If life becomes boring you'll want to liven it up in some way and it's likely you'll choose the most disruptive and controversial option you can think of, even though you know this will cause trouble.
