The food was OK, but the play was trash. We all deserve a refund for the play. Mr. Frank, never again will I help fund anything you are associated with. You have no talent, you teach nothing, you just leverage the talent that walks through your door. Then you get the students to play out the pathetic fantacies running through your head and call it art. Give me a break, give us all a break and resign.

:( I like Mark Frank. He is a funny, sweet guy. It's pretty sad to see people on here bitch about him.

maybe the play wasn't any good...i don't know i wasn't there. but this is a pretty rude way to voice your opinion. maybe sending a letter to the college would be more constructive.

People who personally know Mark (including the students to studied under him) adore him and think he is a very great man. If you don't like the shows, then don't go.
don't be an asshat online. Mark deserves more respect than that.

if you made a 'bad' play, you'd want that respect too.

In what way did you think the play was trash? What do you consider a good play?

I agree the play wasn't that great and we got up early and left very disappointed just like you said. Figure what the ticket cost us. it would go to a better education for those that need it there. LMAO !

I agree what exactly did you not like about the play? Please give us your educated opinion. I was unable to attend but studied with Mark and know that CCC set me in the right direction. I'm just curious what you didn't like-- the script (well he didn't write it) or the acting, the directing... what didn't you like?

Art is supposed to challenge the audience (whether theatre, visual, music, etc) and make the audience think. Perhaps you have a problem with challenging material? We do not have to like all art or theatre we see but it does not make the art piece itself invalid. I personally don't like certain types of music or visual art but it doesn't mean that those types are any less music or visual art it just means I don't like them.

While it is fine that you have your opinion on a certain theatre performance doesn't make the art less legitimate.

"... Figure what the ticket cost us. it would go to a better education for those that need it there. LMAO !"

Truly and educated opinion. Maybe if you could formulate a complete sentence then I would put a bit more weight into what you say.

For a FUND RAISING EVENT the content should consider the audience, not alienate the audience. I'll gladly take this off line and deal with Mr Frank and CCC directly. You all are certainly entitled to your opinion as to what art is, what art should not be is a liscience to present a piece that is inappropriate for the circumstance. Is it no longer possible for art to be entertaining? Must it always be challenging or rated primarily for it's shock value? I'm gone from this forum. Best Wishes to all.

Didn't like the criticism much? What makes you think you get to tell everyone what art should be? You get to decide what it is for you and NO ONE else. You bought a ticket for a dinner threatre and didn't like the play so you think you get to decide what is a "favor" for everyone else with your bs about "do us all a favor and resign"? You have no idea what Mr. Frank has done for the college and the community with the way he has grown and improved the threatre program. He has given numerous kids the oppurtunity to attend college through threatre scholarships that otherwise wouldn't have the chance to go to college. He didn't even write the play and you have the nerve to suggest he is projecting his own fanticies through the kids with the play. You should have dealt with it like an adult and made your displeasure with the play known to Mr. Frank. He would have talked to you, listened to you, and given thought to your feelings on the play and it's "appropriatness" for the dinner. Perhaps you could have even ask why he chose it for the dinner and I'm sure he would have discussed it with you. Instead you get on here and suggest he resign over a play you didn't like and trash him like you did......GROW UP!

Where do you get your facts from ? I didn't care for the play, and Mr Frank was to busy to talk with other peoples feeling on what they thought of the play. Get Real and wise up ! would have ...could have and should have. all together he didn't ! that said it all !

Hi Everyone-It looks like are dinner theatre has sparked a great debate. Let me first say Table Settings is an award winning script by award winning and Tony winner James Lapine. I feel constructive critisisms are fine but personal attacks speak volumes about the character of the person giving them. If you were that offended please send me your address and I will be happy to send you a refund of your money. With that said I hope everyone can attend our Christmas FAMILY play for Red Raven Holidays November 20th. Show times at 7pm and 8:30pm. Thanks!:)

Wanna Know Y--- I would answer you rpost but I really can't make sense our of it- what facts and I don't understand all the ! I'm sure Mark was very busy that night but I think the point being made was that you should have gone to him in the aftermath and talked directly to him about your opinion- not placing it on a public forum.
Disappointed- really art can and should do both- entertain and inspire thought. I would guess that most people know that the show was adult in content- i mean they had an open bar advertised. Not all art is Seasame Street safe and generally productions note this in adverstisement material.
I know the show (although i missed this production) and know that is nothing worse than what is on t.v. during prime time. If you tend to be disapproving about content you need to check these things out before you buy a ticket and then go to the show and bitch about it. For your information i find the script very entertaining and not offensive at all.
To both of you - you asked for opinion on this forum which means you should have been prepared to deal with differing opinions. Obviously you are not willing to concede that art or opinions may be different than your ideas- sorry but that is not how the world works!
Good day! Hope I can see the next play! Keep up the good work Mark!:)

Thank you. That so true! I think that everyone has the right to their own opinion but this IS for the students! These kids already struggle and for ticket that gives them a scholarship that is going to help a kid get a leg up in the world seems worth it. I'm honored to work with the Franks! They put their heart, soul, time and lives into these show! For these kids. For someone to personally attack him show what a poor sense of judgment they have! I personally hope I'm asked back to help once I'm gone. The show was a WONDERFUL chance to see and meet people and opportunities that could open for them! You show me someone on that campus that works as hard, cares as much, and has put that much time into that school! Thank you Mark! You've done so much for me and I'm never going to forget any of it! Keep doing what you do!

Wow, this is interesting. Not sure if "disappointed" is still reading, but what gall you have, Sir. I admire your courage, the way you bravely told Mark Frank what you think over the internet. And without giving your name too. How valiant! Now no one will know who you are and come beat you senseless for your opinion, though they are certainly entitled to a few choice words with you after what you said. It is astounding how strong you are in the face of adversity, Sir. I hope someday I too can be able to muster the courage to rant about someone online behind a solid wall of anonymity. Bravo, disappointed! Bravo!

Also, go fuck yourself!

Hey everyone that liked Mark's trash. EAT A DICK! That's right. Because that's what your mind was consuming when CCC's dinner theatre was presented. Dissapointed acts like this is the first time CCC has ever done crap. Have you watched any of their shows before? From the Rubber Chicken Factory to Zombies Happen Or My Almost Last Date with whoever to The Producers to The Odd Couple, all they ever do is crap. The most untalented bunch EVER, and they're audience??? Don't even get me started. They're so confused by the end of such garbage that they stand and applaud after its over because they're so happy they don't have to sit there anymore. And that Chris Cameron is the worst. Oh, Mr. Chicago, Mr. Big Time. Why don't you go back to Chetopa? My personal least favorite was Hamlet. Who was that DB that played Claudius? I've farted better works of art than what that guy did. How old was he? Is it normal for 35 year old men to still be at a community college? Just sayin...ICC, that's a real program! So what they only have 7 kids every year.

All I have to say is Mark, I loved the play. You are an amazing director and it is so awesome that you raise money every year to put kids on scholarship who need it so they can have a chance to go to school. And to those of you who hated the play, you can state your opinion without being so rude, unless you really are so ignorant that cursing is the only way you can express yourself, in which case, I am so sorry that you are that retarded. Get a life and quit bickering about the dinner theatre, have you nothing better to do with your pathetic lives then sit on here and put down a theatre director who cares enough for his students to ensure scholarships for them? get a life! seriously. if this is all you have to do, then maybe it is because your life is a pathetic waste of nothingness and you have to fill the void by putting others down. seriously~ go watch a movie, take a walk, or do something constructive, your negativity and rudeness aren't helping anyone, including yourselves!! so get over it, and get a life.

For someone that is doing nothing but complaining about their shows you sure seem familiar with all of them and how the audience reacts at the end. You're a joke, and sadly not a very good one.

Even more dissapointed, that's brilliant. BTW, DICK isn't a curse word and his joke is really funny. And if you didn't see the satire in his post you can EAT A DICK! I bet he's actually very good friends with Mark and Chris, that's probably why he knows the shows and then said that ICC is so great even though they only have 7 kids. Come on Coffeyville, don't live up to your stereotype...see the punch line.
