It is stories like these that make me proud to be here in Ok, and in Bartlesville. Thank you Bartlesville for opening up your hearts to others in need, God is blessing our town everyday! Blessings to all the people out of their homes today, and to the people of Bartlesville helping to care for them!

Let's hope they get the hell out of Bartlesville soon. That place is a rat hole and is in no way a place to send innocent evacuees! I've seen places in the French Quarter with less BS than Bartlesville! East Cross...went there as a youth to the youth group, talk about your brain washing cult groups!

God Bless those evacuees, and I pray they get home safely without the poison from the church or the city.

You have the gaul to say God Bless after a comment like that. You must belong to one of those cults you talked about.

Hey Kim, do you know which church it is that is housing all the evacuees? They are being such a blessing!

Yes I am not a member there, but they are located on Madison Blvd on the East side of town. They are all good people, and they help our community all the time. I am not suprised they are helping others this way! I took donations to them the other day, food and blankets. Everyone is full of joy, and are giving all the praise to God for the help. Please keep these people in your prayers now, they still have a long road ahead of them! Blessings to you and yours!

Just because you think you found God outside of Bartlesville, does not mean he is not here. i am sorry you had a bad experience here, but that does not mean all churches are bad, or a cult. I think if you had to leave here to find God, then you never where really looking for him in the first place.

I somehow thought in the Bible that God was omnipotent, omnipresent and in all we see and hear. I think if God wanted to find you in Bartlesville he would have, but maybe he had other plans for you outside of B-ville.

Such self riteous words from such a self riteous town.....

My life has prospered and began to be full of life and light after I left that rathole town. Nothing but drugs, corruption, and if you're not rich, snobbery and loathing. You think those barriers going up along Adams is for sound control? No way...it's so the rich and self seeking psuedo do gooders don't have to look at the low income housing. I still have family there, and yes I visit often enough. But I refuse to believe that anything anyone does in that town is for the good of the people. Nobody does anything in that town without wanting (or requiring) something in return.

And those of you that don't see it, look through rose colored glasses or in true denial. It's been 14 years since I left, and I can't thank the Good Lord enough for sending me on my path I am now. Good luck for those that are there, but in no way do I see this as a "service" the church is doing. Publicity stunt sounds more to the truth.

This same church opened it's doors earlier this summer as a Red Cross shelter even though the bottom floor of their own church had been flooded earlier that morning.

They are a great group of people.

Dear Yikes .... since you are concerned about publicity ... why don't you invite the refugees all over to your house? If you are not willing to step up I am more impressed with the people who do something than you doing nothing.

I can not change what you think, nor would I want to. I moved here 15 yrs ago, and I can tell you I have found a town that has welcomed me and my family. We have good friends here, good schools, and we do not have a problem with drugs all over as you say. I am not rich, I am an upper middle class working mom with 3 kids and a husband, we are planted in a wonderful church and we help out our community all we can. It is not about Publicty, it is about showing the love of God for all people. I am glad you found your path, mine is here for now, until God calls me somewhere else. I do hope you find what you are so badly seeking...

I turned my home into a boarding house during the ice storm for people with no power. I made hot meals and kept fresh towels at the ready for people that needed showers. I offered up my generators and I babysat their kids so that they can get debris cleared without having to worry about them. I offered my services helping remove fallen debris.
Not just during disasters do I offer up my assistance. I spent the summer installing AC units in homes for people that didn't have any. I put my services to work for a little old lady that needed help taking care of her yard, I even bought the flowers for her flower bed.
If the law allowed it, I would have offered up my home for the evacuees. But when they come in shipped on buses as such, they are only allowed to go to designated shelters only. I did donate to the red cross since I am unable at this time to volunteer due to a summer cold I am fighting.

Yes I do have a lot of free time on my hands, and I try to do with it as best as I can. I volunteer quite a bit at my kids school as well. But, until I can beat this nasty cough I have, I'm stuck here at the house. Yes, I hate Bartlesville with every fiber of my being. Work in the restaraunt business there, and you'll see the true colors of the citizens of that town. See them during the week, then see them again on Sunday before or after church. The only day they actually act the true christians they believe themselves to be. With the exception of but a few dozen people, that whole town is awful.
