Oh my God, this is the sadest story I've heard in such a long time. My heart goes out to not only Cooper, the Officer Newell as well. I know how attached the officers get to their companians. I hope they find out who did this and give the a double dose of poison too! How sad and cruel!

Dogs will lick leaking anti-freeze off the ground, because it tastes sweet to them.
You might look to see if one of the dog handler's cars has a coolant leak, or one of the cars at the police station.

Im glad at least some police care for dogs, I was disgusted to read on fox23 about the cop that shot the boxer puppy between the eyes over the weekend.
Anyone that afraid of dogs doesnt need to be a cop.

Sorry about Cooper! Very sorry. It does not take much anitfreeze to be deadly, couldve been a drop under the car.

So sorry for the poor little guy! Hopefully it was an accident, but if it was done on purpose, there is a special little corner in hell for people that harm animals.

I hope the person(s) responsible are caught and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

Ask any vet, this happens more than we realize.
"Investigate" for puddles of coolant in the driveway, that will be the culprit.

Everyone assumes because this is a police dog it's somehow deliberate.
Was the dog not sheltered somehow? or in a place where it could be watched?
I think in the end it will come down to negligence.

It would seem the person leaving the "Clueless" bulbs is not much of an animal lover, much less a lover of drug dogs.

Kotv does a story on a police dog poisoned (but now appears to be negligence) but ignores the story about the cowardly Catoosa cop that shot a boxer point blank between the eyes.
Do police pre-approve all of kotv's "crime" stories?

Owner negligence.

This is so sad. It just goes to show how worthless and thoughtless a criminal really is. Prayers go out to the officer who was assigned the dog and the rest of the department as well.

If someone did do this to this pooch I hope they give them a dose of their own medicine. This is the same as killing a family member.

seriously, is that not the same as killing a police officer? i believe i read somewwhere that hurting/killing a(n) arson/police dog warrants the same amount as time as a cop-killer.

Poor Cooper and poor Officer Newell, he lost his best buddy and partner. I hope they give Cooper a nice funeral.(seriously now) Do they have a special place in pet cemetaries for fallen service dogs? If so he should be there.

I'd be double checking the area for antifreeze/coolant leaks.
