My wife tokk the drug Luvox another SSRI drug to treat OCD during the course of the pregnancy with our son. He was born with a misshaped skull and severe heart defects. He's going on his 5th open heart surgery now and he just turned 9. Our lives are upside down to care for him and I've turned down job promotions to be able to take care of him as best as possible. These companies can't pay us enough for the damages and pain we've been through. We want them to stop giving these drugs to pregnant mothers, they're not guinea pigs!!

God bless you, and your wife and son. You are correct. There isn't enough money to ever be able to repay you to the damage done to your son, and you.
Don't forget the doctor that prescribed the drug to your wife in the first place. He is just as culpable as the drug companie, perhaps more so.

I couldn't agree more. I took Paxil throughout my entire pregnancy in 2003. I was told it was safe to use during pregnancy. My son was born with a major heart defect (that could have been corrected)but died at one month before it was diagnosed. They use us as guinea pigs and needs to be stopped!

The only way they will stop is to be sued until they take it off the market. Sue their pants off, and don't think twice about it.

There are plenty of good law firms who will take your case on a contingency basis. Carr and Carr in Tulsa win suits and are among the very best and have the brightest team of attorneys in the area. They make their money by suing jerks with deep pockets like these evil drug companies, and I love it when I see they have to pay for the grief they've caused someone.

God bless you, and I am so sorry about the tragic and needless loss of your baby.

I am already invloved in a lawsuit. I talked to my attourney and he said that the medical examiner who performed the autopsy on my son said it was a genetic defect. That seems impossible to me because we have NO heart problems on either side of our family. My son had a couple different heart defects, one being VERY rare...

I will not stop fighting. It HAS to stop!

Genetic defect? How would he know? Is he qualified and trained to diagnose 'genetic defects'? Make him prove it! My guess is that he's making an unqualified assumption because of your son's age.

GOD bless you...I hope you win this battle with the sorcerers and snake oil salesmen.

I've been on Effexor from http://goo.gl/wW5CNU only one week but am cautiously very optimistic. Prior to this I was on citalopram but still feeling very low and sleeping poorly, feeling like I needed to be in bed 12-16 hours a day. Now I am waking naturally after only 8 hours sleep and finding it much easier to concentrate at work. I can hardly believe it is working so quickly but I feel so much better. I've had no side effects.
