Everyone needs to tell everyone they know to check their ID around their birthdays. Some do not know that if you allow you license to lapse, it is hard to prove you are a citizen if you have not even seen your birth certificate in years. I am sure this man was frustrated at due process. Ignorance is not bliss. Tell your elderly parents and neighbors about this.

I just hate that this man felt the need to threaten someone over this. You can get a copy of your birth certificate. It just is time-consuming.

Are you saying it is OK to for him to do this? I agree that customer service is lacking, but we need to draw a line on our own behavior and model that behavior for our children. There are effective ways to voice displeasure with a policy without threatening to kill people.

Hmm looks like those Okies in B'ville are a little behind in times at the tag agency. It is called a Photo copy not a carbon copy and it is a valid form of id. Get in the 21st century B'ville. Glad I left that hick town.

Come on GraciesMom, Nothing in any of the posts even hints that it was ok that Mr Groves said what he did. However, With the lack of concern and the holier than thou attitude at that tag agency, I am surprised that others haven't voiced the same thing.

Sad now, that this man is marked for life.

KOTV: Police arrested Groves not far from the tag agency. He's charged with a misdemeanor count of threatening violence.

Tulsa World: BARTLESVILLE ó A 61-year-old Washington County man has been arrested by Bartlesville police for felony threats to kill after becoming upset when he could not renew an expired driverís license at a local tag agency.

Which is it? misdemeanor or felony?

A photo copy or carbon copy (whatever you want to call it) of a birth certificate is NOT a valid form of ID. A birth certificate must have the embossed seal f the state it was issued from in order to be valid.

The people at the tag agency did exactly as they should have!

I let my driver's license lapse and had to take in my birth certificate and ssi card for proof and then they made copies of them. My next door neighbor was showing me his application for re-newal for his Journeyman's license and it now has an added document to state if you are legal to work here in the US. So you have to fill it out and get it notarized and mail it back with the re-newal and fee. They want us to prove who we are but then people are crawling over our borders right and left and no one seems to care. The illegal nannies, gardeners, maids, housekeepers, cooks etc that work for wealthy families just somehow seem to slide under the radar..not John Q. Public. He has to prove who he is!!

Gracie dear please reread my post again. I said "felt" which is the operative word. If we all did what we felt like doing this world would be more of a disaster then what it is now. Haven't you ever felt like ramming someones car who pulled out in front of you? Well, maybe not you. I however have THOUGHT about it. Thinking and doing are 2 different things thankfully. If we could only read minds around us.....
I have to agree with you JG- thinking and doing (or saying out loud) are indeed two separate things. Which is why we are not all in jail! Fantasizing revenge can be a great stress reliever, but this guy crossed the line to "bully" and criminal when he said it out loud to the workers. Someone else posted that this tag agency is rude. How about someone else opening a new and friendlier agency down the street? That would be the best revenge!

It is a pain in the rear to get a certified copy. But it's nobody's fault or responsibility but his own. Why get mad at the person doing their job because you don't have the documentation. If a lousy photocopy was all that was required, anybody could just make one and get a valid DL. Kinda like Dillon said...blame it on the (illegals)

I just got hit last week by an illegal ali....oops forgot to be politically correct.... a non-resident alien who had just gotten a license a couple of weeks before.(according to what the cop told me) He had no insurance, and expired tags. The stupid cop just let him go without so much as a ticket. Now then, explain to me why I have to PROVE that I live in this country legally and he (the non - resident alien) doesn't?????
