[Copan Sucks]

What you do if you are a "city" like Copan,is hire some guy at minimum wage to drive around with a machine in the back of a pickup truck that emits a large cloud of toxins with the intention of killing mosquitoes. The problem is that in the process of eliminating mosquitoes, many other species, such as birds and insects that feed on mosquitoes are being harmed and killed as well.Not to mention that this toxic cloud is without doubt harmful to people. Has Copan notified the residents of the ingredients in this stuff? No, they just go ahead and DO IT. Whoever ordered this spraying to be done is apparently unaware that nature does have a balance. There are beneficial insects and birds that would kill off most of the mosquitoes without harming anything else, but no...Copan is so darned backward, they want to kill everything within reach of their toxic, choking cloud of whatever is in that thing in the back of the city truck.
When kids start getting sick of some mysterious illness and dying in Copan, I will nominate Copan as the first city in the US deserving of a Darwin award.

bville never got a letter or notic or anything. I was outside with my kids one day and just saw them spraying. Checked it out online and that was it.

I remember a time when people would pray for some miracle that would kill the mosquitoes. Especially right after their kid died from some strange disease.I know they have been spraying for at least 40 years; I would think that would be notice enough...

well I'm in my 20's and I've never heard of this stuff. I would like to know what is being spraied when my kids are outside.

8:00PM Tuesday evening, June 29th.... The city employee just drove by again leaving a large cloud of toxic stuff behind him. If he survives his job, I'll be surprised. Whatever is in this spray stinks to high heaven, even a block away. I'm praying for the wind to shift, as we speak. I just wish the city "powers" that order this stuff to be sprayed would have to stand out in it and breath this crap if they think it's so great. I'd rather take my chances with some House wrens, bat houses, or even a spray can of OFF. At least I don't have to breath it into my lungs.

Correct. Nothing new. Mosquito borne diseases are numerous.

I just think they should tell someone so we can bring our kids and pets inside. There's alot of people allergic to different stuff. That stuff could cause someone a trip to the er.

The results a day after latest spraying? Mosquitoes just as numerous as ever...just maybe a little more T-ed off.

Oh, and a baby Robin dying in the front lawn.

What's that distinct aroma wafing into my yard and lungs? Is it from the smell of the left over fireworks the kids are shooting off several blocks away? Maybe it's the neighbor's barbequing down the street...No, it's not the smell of summer flowers, barbeque or fireworks, it's that stench I'm becoming more familiar with each week, as that moran Copan City worker drives his truck of death down the streets of Copan, belching out vast clouds of toxic vapors. Kind of like the ice cream truck only you have to run from this one as you hear it slowly approaching, holding your breath as you go.

Listen friends, this is not funny...it's getting to be where one needs a gas mask just to live in Copan. I'm going to make other arrangements asap. And I'm very serious. A city leadership so stupid as Copan apparently has who thinks their doing the people here a favor by ordering this spraying every week in summer, needs to be locked in the old city jail with the mosquito spray spewing into the window for about 15 min, and see how they like it.
