That is pure BS. They chose 2 names and 2 only. Teh man from Govs office said they would choose 3 an dhe came out stating the committee decided to send only 2.
As to the committee, Sandy went to school with Pryor and is an elected official so shold not be on it. Mike and Darlene, give me a break, if I remember right Darlene was caught with Mike thus her divorce from Jamie. Those 2 are real upstanding people, Mike and Darlene, NOT. As to the rest of the committee, NONE are under 65 or 70 so all they want and know is for NC to run as it always has. IS that what you want for you kids and grand kids, a dead county? I forget the ladies name but the teacher had more qualifictions than any one up there. She at least has a damn math degree amoung her 4 college degrees. I admit her speech left a lot to be desired but at least she is educationally qualified. Steve had to read his speach. Wonder who wrote it for him. Pryer gave the same old spew as to working with state and federal government as well as the magistrates. He touted straightening out the water district but I know when that went down and he was not the only one on the water board so why is he taking all the credit? The rest spewed the same old same ole for NC, keep getting state and federal grants to keep the county running basically. NONE stated JOBS as a priority, NONE.
Bottom line is none that put in should be judge exec. and the local state DNC committee is a joke. MAny were good people BUT they have no clue as to a vision fgor NC. None are under 70 except 3 who only know how to run around on their spouce or have been in elected office in NC most of their adult life. The DNC committee needs new blood with a vision for nC and needs people NOT in the court house every day or NOT in the beds of the ones who are in teh court house every day!

It is really sad that people are allowed to post such incorrect information on this site. Would you all read what you are writing? Not a one of you know the truth about any of this, so you write about what you think you know and then you seem to believe it. If you are so knowledgeable and think your ideas and beliefs are so right, how come no one sees you trying to become a leader in our community? Come on, how much better could you be IF you had the real facts.

At least I speak out. I will not put my name in for one reason, I do not have the "proper" last name for the job here in Nicholas Countym qualifications yes but wrong last name. In a county with "better morals" I could do the job and be elected BUT in this backwards hick of a good ole boy county, fat chance with my last name. Name is every thing here. No matter haw bad a job you do, as long as you have the good ole boy name or backing you will be in office. IF you are qualifed but lack the proper name, forget it. Look at the lak of progerss in the past 30 years yet they still manage to get into office just due to NAME.
As to all the answers, only God has all the answers but as we have seen no one has had any answers to help Nicholas County progress because no one wants it to get any better. They want it to be the same old county it always has been, a sheet hole place for drugs, corruption, and graft. That way the counties around us can get better and dump their trash here in NC.

There are some nice people, who are and have been members of that committee for a long time. They have never had a problem making rational decisoons before and wouldn't have any now. The problem is they are now out numbered. About a half dozen new members joined this committee about the time Mr. Lyons became judge. Was this a coincidence? Three members who weren't listed are: Gracie Guy, Betty Morford and Shirley Collins. These ladies will always vote for what they think to be right. They will try and fill the position with the most qualified candidate. They are certianly not push overs. Sandy Watkins is the daughter of one of them. I believe she is the kind of person who will vote her conscienco also. Another elderly member of that committee would vote for Elmer Fudpucker, if he would promise that he would continue to keep shoveling more and more money into the Senior Citizen's Center to continue funding all of their pet projects. John Hamilton is another older citizen who became a new member of this group since Mr. Lyons became judge. Any wonder why this committee is now being called the "Good OLD BOY'S CLUB?

Do you not think the Senior Citizen's Center should receive funding? We old folks are like kids and need something to help keep us out of trouble!!
John Hamilton will be very disappointed to find out he's an "older citizen".:-)

Noooooooo, I kid you not! Something else I believe is worth mentioning is the fact that BUBBA SIDLES is also a voting member of that club er I mean Executitive Committee. After the voting was over, Mr. Sidles suggested that the ballets be shredded, to make sure they never resurfaced anywhere. The gentleman from Frankfort, refused to allow this, stating he was taking them with him. Strange request? Why would he come up with an idea like this?

What does it matter print the ballets . Dorsey and Mike Dotson won't be happy until it happens. Tell the real truth Dorsey, you wanted Steve in office so he could , replace the sheriff, secretary, ems director & new fire chief . So sad !!

Question for you, Brat? How many senior sitizens do yoy think resides in this county? Find the answer to that and compare it with the number who are participating in activities at the Senior Citizen's Center. I would bet my old 1986 ford truck that it is less than five percent. Yes, I believe that money could be better spent to fund more worth while programs. The econony is bad. School programs are being cut. After school programs that allow children to stay after school because parents work is much more important. Yes, if 95 percent of our older people can do without this center, the other 5 percent can too. The people who are on the payroll there are the only ones who are benefiting from this. As for Mr. Hamilton. He sure looks like an older citizen to me. He looks older than me and I AM A SENIOR CITIZEN and I work every day.

Hamilton wouldn't do anything. He was behind the dismantling of the fire department and is clueless about everything else. The secretary needs to go anyway. He has no say over the ems director.
