Wow!!!! I really enjoyed the coments about Yulan, New York. My first visit to Yulan was when I was five years old and now I am 85 but the memories are still there.
I lived on Bungalow Hill near the Four Corners. Fred Henzel was the Postmaster in the little grocery store and the ice cream parlor was right next store. The whole corner was owned by the Henzels. On one of the corners was an old school house where my friends and I use to sit on the steps at night and plays silly games.
Yulan was such a nice place to spend the summers. We use to walk to Bradlee's to go swimming. We did swim in Bodine's Lake , too but Bradlee's had a diving board and raft.
Near Bodine's Lake was an old empty house where it was said a murder took place. We believed it becaused there was a bloodstained mattress in one of the rooms. We stayed away from that place after we disc overed the mattress.
We, also, walked to the Bluff and sat on the big rock overlooking the Delaware River and just sat there enjoying the scenry.
Rohman's was the first stop parents went to before going to the bungalows.
When LABOR dAY came around everyone was sooo sad because we had to go home but we did have a clam bake to end the season and waited for next year to come around to meet up with old friendsl.

My uncle,George Ferri used to live off the highway just up the road from 4-Corners.My father used to buy gas at Henzel's.I think he sold Esso gasoline.Paul Bodine worked at the post office and was a good friend of my uncle's.Paul spnt much time with my uncle.I remember what a good mechanic/tinkerer he was.He was converting an old postal truck from right hand to left hand steering.
