Burnsville Mayor Elizabeth Kautz told us during her last campaign to celebrate diversity and to celebrate the arts because diversity and the arts ARE Burnsville. When we first moved to Burnsville forty years ago and up to about ten years ago we thought we were just like Edina except we had diversity which I thought of as a good thing. Now the State of Minnesota is telling us we have too much diversity; so how much is the Mayor's additional diversity costing our school district?
Why didn't the mayor get the extra funding for the school district while she was building the extra cheap housing to get liveable communities grants she spent on the land for her new performing arts center? It is my humble opinion Burnsville has it's priorities screwed up. We are spending tax dollars on unimportant amenities and failing to fund our kid's and grandkid's education. Why is there such a love affair between our city government and our school district at the same time the city is using more than their fair share of our tax dollars? |
