Mammograms should not be painful for a woman. IN fact, it is wrong if they are painful. At Womancare, in Fairmont, WV, the mammogram specialist is sadistic when giving mammograms.

As a breast cancer surviver, I have had numerous mammograms. I have a great deal of pain during and after a mammogram. The mammogram technician at this clinic does not believe me when I tell her of the intense pain. I have several healed broken ribs under breast tissue. The machine is pushed into the area of calcification on those ribs. My breast tissue is also extremely sensitive. I am swollen, like balloons, for at least 4 days after a mammogram. I have encountered very rude personnel.

How do we convince the medical profession of these very real issues? Most women do not have a great deal of discomfort or pain. But the few of us that do have very real pain, are ignored.

Even though I am a breast cancer surviver, I am to the point of refusing to ever again having a mammogram.

That whole practice is a joke. I went in as a new patient and when the dr came in the room, the very first thing she said to me was "you really need to loose some weight". She didn't even introduce herself. The after the exam I slipped off the table and she laughed at me, she didn't even ask if I was ok. Needless to say, I haven't returned.

Consider urself lucky u didn't have to have an ultrasound, that technician is the kind of person words can't describe (not in a good way)!!! In that office their mission statement should be "get them in and out, bill the insurance and talk badly about all patients" I am not sayin this about the docs persay...but def the office staff.

If anyone notices Dr Bonasso the owner of this place cant keep docs working for him, he has new docs in with him constantly. He is a typical smartass, greedy italian. Who's wife cheated on him with Ron W. who use to be at FSU. I cant stand Womancare and will never go back there again. Fairmont needs more caring OB/GYN docs.

Dr. HOUPE, female, is the only caring doc in the practice. The office "girls" (bc they act like highschoolers) blatantly talk about patients without even caring who's listening and u don't have to be trying to hear the snide remarks. We all know bullying is a huge issue and this office is nothing but "adult" BULLIES.

mammograms are more uncomfortable now since I am a little heavier. All in all I was treated very kindly and respected. I too would like to know if there is a mammograms that squashes less but I guess the denser the area the harder to see. I have heard of a newer machine that uses heat sensors . Does anyone know of one in this are

Do what I did at Dr. Turners office one time when I noticed the staff was talking about me and the other patients, I called them out in front of everyone. Probably made an ass out of my self but I got my point across and then told Dr. Turner about it. Stand up for yourself, no one else is going too!!

I went there for the first time for a yearly exam and the Dr walked in along with an "assistant" then two students came in before the procedure without even asking my permission to do so. I was horrified. Worst place I've ever been in terms of healthcare. Rude and disrespectful practice.

Dr.Houpe WAS the only caring caring doc at Bonasso's Womancare but she left his practice. and the ultrasound lady did the initial ultrasound for my daughters pregnany. when they noticed the baby was smaller than it should be, the lady said 'oh, YOU must have the date of your last cycle wrong'(not) instead of seeing that the baby wasnt as developed as it should be. big mistake.
we found a great new obgyn in Bridgeport (unfortunately 3months later) who told us on the 1st visit that the baby is not ok. A specialist in Morgantown confirmed the baby will not ever survive outside the womb.
Now my daughter is showing and has been preparing for this baby four months now for a baby that will never be... Thanks Womancare. You havent heard the last of me!

The doc change there as often as the patients change their panties! Ironic though that all the support staff have been there for many many many years, so doesn't that say something? Same staff and all the docs leave and my guess is because the support staff is awful, rude and incompetant. Personal phone calls and gossip is their top priority, bottom line. Patients feel like an inconvenience and intrusion on their personal conversations.

Dr Bonasso told me I was carrying a dead baby and needed a D&C IMMEDIATELY! He diagnosed me with a blighted ovum. I missed the first appointment for the D&C because I was very sick. By the time he scheduled the second one I knew something wasn't right. I took a copy of my records to DR. Santiago (This was years ago when she was with Swihart) I wanted a second opinion. So glad I did because today my 'blighted ovum' is a very healthy and normal 16 year old girl. Had I listened to Dr 'Bonasshole' and went in for that D&C it would have been an abortion.
