If you still have them, I am very interested. Our family went to Tabor Farm in the late 1940's, early 1950's. We don't seem to have any photos left. Contact me with any details. Thanks.

I am fortunate in that i actually do have many photos and video of Tabor Farm, one i have which is kind of sad is going thru the resort about 3 years after it closed down and before it was torn down, at that point i still had hope it would re-open but it was not to be, if i win a lottery, i will buy the land and re-create the place. I remember the hay rides, Vic hated giving them, once we were out of sight of the resort, he would drive around the block about 60mph, stop once to yell at us about throwing hay, and then bring us back.....he was a nice guy but a bit quirky.

I worked as a waitress @ TFarm in 1970-71. Have great memories of fun times and good friends. Mrs Adams, Mr and Mrs Stanley, Martha (sugar bowls, girls), Marcia who had all sorts of songs while we dried silverware, Willie the baker, Chef (Norm the hawaiian) who always gave Blair hot plates, George, Marius, and Susan, Dottie Speck (Debby) and Speckie (Ramontus Gensius) of cow palace fame, GJ and SJ, Harry (I wanna SCREAM....), Shingledecker. Midnight peppermint stick ice cream raids. Frick and Frack - the middle aged twin guests who wore matching outfits including bathing suits. Remember driving a girl's VW bug (never drove a stick shift B4) thru Hipps Hollow Rd to Berrien Springs "Frank and Toots Dog and Suds"--couldnt figure out where reverse was so we asked some guys to push the car out of the pkg space. So hot and muggy after dinner one night all the waitresses and busboys lined up at the diving board and jumped into pool with uniforms on....... Joannie, Robin, Kathy, Chris, Jenny, Debby, jim, Al, Mike, Ray and everyone....hi!

It's a joy to "find" this string of memories! I grew up at Tabor Farm; my dad was a cousin of Joe Bachunas. We came to USA in 1949 and started living at Tabor Farm in 1950. My dad and his brother and uncle worked the farm portion while my mom, grandmother and aunts worked cleaning the cabins. I worked as a waitress in the early 60's and have great memories of the place. It was a great experience - not quite DIRTY DANCING but great fun!
I've been asked to provide infromation about Joe Bachunas for a biography being written in Lithuania, so any information from his relatives will be greatly appreciated. My email is irenazukas@att.net

This was a resort with a 9 hole golf course and various other amenities. I worked there one summer about 20+ years ago, and while vacationing in the area (and visiting Tabor Hill, among other wineries) I tried to find it, but couldn't. I was wondering if Rt. 31 went right through it perhaps. Thanks for the responses...
I spent 28 summers of my life at Tabor Farm.I'm the nephew of Valdas Adamkus. The place was bulldozed. Only a few foudations remain-grassed-over. Those where the best years of my life.My brother Marius and I while visiting family in Lithuania found hundreds of photo's and put them on disc.We had a lot of fun that Christmas going through Val's photo stash.

I also remember Tabor Farm. Our family and some friends vacationed there about 5 summers during the early 50's. I spent my 9th birthday there in 1953. We used to love going to get a snack after the kitchen closed. Also loved Goofy Golf when everyone dressed silly, even kids could play golf that day. We also went to Benton Harbor to the House of David. I still have some porcelain figurines I bought there. Every afternoon we played "31" in the dining room after lunch. Our family made many good friends while we were there and we looked forward to seeing them each summer!

Hi...I am the other Marius that worked at the resort for 4 years as I went to college. George and I shared time together including a great night in 74 when we drove from the resort to go to a Led Zeppelin at the then Chicago Stadium. Great night! Marius and I often golfed together with Vic the golf superintendent and all around staffer.

I used to be the bartender there for a few years...worked with Ron Wilcox for a couple of years then brought in a couple of other friends to work with me .

Great memories....still remember the nightly staff shenanigans....all in good fun!

Amazing to now a lot of you that have posted here....through the years,

How often does one have two people named Marius on a resort?

Good times at Labor Farm! Was a dishwasher during the early to mid 1970's. Knew Geoff, Eric, Brian, George,Marias, Harry, Hellen, Martha, the Hawaian cook, and one of the cooks who took films and photos like crazy those summers. If we could find that stash we could do a book.
Also all the great girls from those years! Natalie, Asta, Mary, Diva,.....
Considered buying the land for a vinyard...just because I missed those days!
Kris...I remember you well too! I was the bartender there when you and Tim et all ...worked there....

Sad to report Natalie is no longer with us....still remember the first weekend when I drove her and three other girls from Cicero out to work at this great resort!

Mr. & Mrs. Adamkus, are my uncle and aunt. I know the old cash register from the lodge now sits in their home in Vilnius, Lithuania. Valdas had it shipped out to him while he was running for the presidency of Lithuania. He served two five yr. terms as president. He is credited for getting Lithuania into the E.U. and NATO. They are both 90 yrs. old now and still very much in love.

The saddest chapter in Tabor Farm history begins with Dr. Martin stopping payments to the Adamkus family. He cut down every old growth walnut that stood in the back forests along the river. There were close to 30 trees. He did this to generate money so he could buy electric golf carts. Eventually the resort went into court appointed receivership while it was put-up for sale. The underground fuel tanks had to be dug-up, ground cleaned and backfilled. That was $ 100K to complete. Then the court appointed guardian took-off with what was in the bank for costs of upkeep. I don't know if they ever caught him. He nabbed $ 80 K. Eventually the property was sold to an investment group for under $150K. The Adamkus family paid $ 875,000 for an operational resort in the mid 60's. I know the truth of the final yrs. because I was there when it all went down. My uncle gave me the dollar figures.

Tabor Hill has nothing to do with Tabor farm, Tabor farm is on River rd in sodus, I think like 6020 River rd it was bought by a lawyer out of St Joseph, for his own hunting camp, he just let everything go. Sad it was still worth saving.
