Not the principal directly but his wife did on her facebook.
Truth? Yea it's true, people out there have copies before she could get them off. Now would be a great time for the Salvino's to pack up and take their preppie asses right back to Massillon!
This guy thinks his crap does not stink and as he tells his wife & she tells people, he says, "I'm untouchable!" Guess what? Your not untouchable. You are no good for our school district!!!!!!

I'm not trying to offend anyone but, she's kinda right. The district is very low income and very under educated. Claymont has always been thought of as the low end of the county. Have things improved, somewhat but not enough. The majority of the area is pretty trashy. It's not about money it's about morals and standards of living. There is a high percentage of people that live in that area that lack any moral fiber. Just because you are poor doesn't mean your attitude has to be.

Wow, that came from a person from New Philadelphia. Its too late, IMHO, because your words are offensive. It takes a lot of guts to call us out because some of our people are from the low end of the socio-economic scale. Don't be fooled, it happens in New Phila also. Do you see us getting on public forums calling for immigration to come to little Mexico, AKA five-points? We are not bothering you and this discussion isn't about your opinion, so get in your car, stop at all Parada (that's "stop" in spanish), stop at the New Phila welfare office, and leave us alone.

Well first of all Earl, you are exactly what I'm talking about. At least Jess is intelligent enough to insult me in a (sort of ) mature way. By the way, I grew up in Tusky and only work in the Dover-New Phila area, thank you. My issue is with the behavior of people in that area. I am talking about the people with 8 kids on welfare and foodstamps that are using their cash to buy drugs and ciggertes and beer. People that can't bathe their children or keep their houses or their selves clean. People that sit in their house while their 3 year olds are running around outside alone in a dirty diaper. This kind of thing happens EVERYWHERE. What I'm saying is just because you are poor doesn't mean you have to lower your standards and behavior. Just because you are poor doesn't mean you should act like a heathen. You are all know the people I'm talking about, don't act like you don't. I don't think I'm better than anyone, but I feel that you are responsible for yourself. This woman came from an area where people have manners and she comes to this area where half the people where never taught to say please or thank you. Oh, and by the way, I live on a pretty fixed income, so it's pretty judgemental of YOU to assume that I'm some rich jerk.

This is a funny thing to even argue about. This low income and these types of people are everywhere, not just in the "Twin Cities." I know people that live there that make some decent money, a lot more than I do lol! IMHO, I too am from Tusky, have you looked around? I love it here, but we are no different. It is people like you that make this world as troubled as it is today. You really need to take a Sociology class, and quit being so stereotypical. Look at the jobless rates, things are not good in this country right now and the last thing we need is you passing judgement on people. And what exactly do you consider poor?

And can I add that Claymont School District has one of the most dedicated superintendents that I have ever met in my life, he is making a difference there and will continue to do so! Wish we had him at IV!

Once again LMAO, you fail to understand my statements. I'm not passing judgment because people are poor, I'm saying that these people that do the things I mentioned need to take responsibility for themselves. How am I being stereotypical? I know rich people that act the way I was talking about. You are right that people act that way everywhere. That was a point I failed to make. Also there is nothing wrong with Tusky, I loved growing up there, only problem is, which is the same in any small town, everyone knows your business and feels like that have a right to their opinion about your life.
So my question for you is, when you see parents out that haven't washed their child and let the poor thing run around unsupervised you don't want to go over and shake those parents? I don't care how much or how little money you have you need to take of your children.
Oh and since you told me I should get out of T-County on the other board, if you like Claymont's super so much, why don't you send your kids to Claymont? Open enrollment you know?

http://www.ode.state.oh.us/reportcardfiles/20...

The above link is the State Report Card for the Claymont school district from the 2008-2009 school year.

Note you can also view other Tuscarawas County report cards from that site. Out of all schools in the area, Claymont has the lowest graduation rate, the lowest mean ACT score, and the highest poverty level.

BUT, this school has come the farthest in the area in terms of educating its students. It just spent 1 year on the SL list (where schools need to do better or they'll have a government take-over) and already met 22 of the 30 state indicators, making it an effective school.

I have thought about open enrollment and know others in the area that have as well, and as for the State Report Card, that is because they have a great new sup who has a heart for children not just a paycheck. I have listened to him speak about his goals in life and how he loves to be at a school and start at the bottom and turn them upside down to get nearer to the top!

Isn't this about this superintendents wife calling the area white trash? Not about the schools or the teachers?
If we are talking test scores to staff then that's a whole other story. The superintendent is not usually "in the trenches" the teachers are, so they SHOULD get credit for the higher test scores.

Ok I said superintendent not principal. Excuse me. I refrenced the wrong admin. You completely missed a point. Big difference.

You people get all feisty on these boards like it proves something. Just because someone doesn't agree with your opinion doesn't mean you should blast them for their feelings. The maturity level of some of these post rivals that of a " I know you are but what am I" spat between 8 year olds. Go ahead and blast me, as I am sure you will, but it will just prove my point. Insults and nasty words have no place in adult discussions.

The principals wife was wrong. I understand what IMHO is saying, it is not about socioeconomic its about behavior. This is not a problem reserved in rural areas, urban areas, etc. This is a county, state, national problem that needs to be addressed. Parents- know where your children are and what they are doing. Keep your children clean and fed and if you can't then ask for help. I would suggest being cautious about assuming people from "five points" are poor, or a minority. I would caution against assuming that minorities are poor, or that immigrants are from "Mexico". These ideas spread like wildfire and resonate deep within peoples minds. Back to the principals wife's comment...don't complain, act. Send the principal a letter expressing your feelings about the "white trash" comment. Finally, if you feel that the Claymont area, Phila. area, etc. is very poor and struggling...don't complain...help.

HMM, thank you for seeing my point. I also agree with you about people assuming, it does spread like a plauge. It's racism at it's most basic form.
People can't always help their circumstances but they can control their behavior.

IMHO you ASSume too much. You had no problem judging and categorizing me but you don’t know me. I am not rich but am not poor. I only have two children but we have never been on welfare in my life. They never wandered the streets dirty in their underwear; they are collage educated with good morals. I am not from Claymont but New Phila. How dare you insult me and my family It sounds to me that you and this lady have the same “better than thou” type of manners to me. You insult everyone then tell everyone else to quit name calling. Bite me you fixed income snob.

Daily Horoscope for December 6

Taurus

If you gave up over what happened yesterday, you stand a better chance of sorting things out today. Talking to the person who failed to go for the teamwork may help to get a grip on the situation, especially if you manage to avoid recriminations or accusations. Instead, do your best to be as understanding and compassionate as possible. Or just let it go.
