I find the stories of "wealthy family" and Wethersfield and willful Molly Barber questionable. Some stories seem to say she was born in Ireland in 1714, some say not true. What is true is that "Moll" was a name in Ireland for women of ill repute - so no one with money would name their daughter Molly. Protitutes were nick named Molly. Some of the stories indicate a girl with many suitors and a father who did not approve, then escaping to the wilds to avoid him. Seems more likely that a now older prostitute found love and moved out of where the people of Whethersfield would not let them live. Who would voluntarily move to Satan's Kingdom unless forced out?
